The Brandin Cooks trade doesn't solve the problem. It is the problem!

When Brandin Cooks joins the Dallas Cowboys, he will join his 5th team in his 9-year career.

Saints, Pats, Rams, Texans, and now the Cowboys. A lot of folks on here are caught up by a name they recognize and a player some wanted during the season, last year. And I'll be the first to admit that Brandin Cooks is a NICE player, he isn't what this team needs.

This team needs an offensive weapon. A "game wrecker" of sorts. Not another nice WR that will fight for number 2 touches in our offense.

It points to the obvious blind spot in the front office that most of here can see but some are blinded too as well.

IMO settling for anything short of DHop or OBJ is just that. Settling.
Entitled to your opinion but, the guy has 6 years of service with over 1000 yards per season. When he was traded, it was always for a 1st round pick except for us who got the big steal.
Do your homework. OBJ is a money hungry cancer and Hop is drugged up.

I don’t get the complaining? Cooks is a productive WR perfectly suited for a west coast style offense. He will be very good here. I don’t even doubt it with Lamb, Cooks, Gallup, Tolbert. This move creates competition and now Gallup has to step up and Tolbert. Plus the rest of the receiver group. They got an instant upgrade in the 2 spot.

Yes. They think small. They're more interested in winning the trade than they are winning a title. The fact is if those teams weren't willing to move older vets for some late round picks we'd be sitting here with nothing but a few re-signings. With a team they believe is on the cusp of a title.

Now having said that, they did improve the team with those two trades. They are better. I just don't think it's enough.

Imagine if instead of Vander Esch it was Wagner and instead of Cooks it was Hopkins. Does that team beat the 49ers? They might. I'd put them right there with anyone in the NFC.

But does this team win that game? No.
I'll wait and see what we land with our 2nd round pick before I make a decision on the Dhop vs Cooks debate.

Honestly, I'm not sure Wagner/Dhop over LVE/Cooks makes much of a difference for that 9ers game. I'm hesitant to even make this comment because I don't want to completely hijack this thread, however with the way Dak played in that game I'm not sure if we win that game with Jerry Rice and Calvin Johnson in their prime. For as well as he played against Tampa he was equally bad against SF. I think the receivers are fine with Cooks. Where I wouldn't hesitate to go all out to improve the offense to championship quality is the OLine.

The guy has had what…6 1000 seasons. He’s a little more than nice. I get the love affair with big names like OBJ and DHop but OBJ was never this game in/game out superstar. He had superstar plays and games but he has been injured and out of the game a bit. DHop is kind of following the Julio Jones route. Unreal talent that was unstoppable and now time has caught up to him a little. He’s still way more serviceable and his drop off not as precipitous but overall I have fears with both guys. I think DHop is best of bunch but this isn’t the Texans version. I mean we got quality for picks we don’t really hit on so why not. Good value
to be honest, i was shocked when i saw they pulled off the trade and got great value. when it comes to putting pieces where they belong and rolling the dice, he's perfect. he's not going to argue for media time; just come in and do his job and he does it well.

it was a great move.

Haha complaining about fans wanting names and then throwing out names like DHop and OBJ like they’ll be a savior. We’d be lucky to get half a season out of either one of them. You’re mad and in your feelings and not thinking clearly. Don’t be so emotional.

Lamb is the definition of a game wrecker. We need guys who can get open and have good hands. Speed is nice and Cooks isn’t slow. The only things we really lack at WR is a big physical guy
That's because Dak appears to prefer the security of seperation. I dont think Noah's changed Dak's opinion.

Well, yeah. We have to overcome our QB. I know that. That's why I didn't say we'd definitely win the game.

You'd be adding a big time playmaker on both sides of the ball. (Gilmore is an addition on both teams)

I think we'd have a chance. This current team has no chance.

No, cooks isn't a game wrecker. Maybe he does for the offense and cd lamb what ty Hilton did last season. No he didn't have great numbers but cd sure did after his arrival.

Cooks isn't all that. Neither is D-Hop or OBJ. All of them are 30+ years old with lots of wear-n-tear and who cost lots of money. years
The thing is, we don't need him to be "all that".

He's one of a 3 headed WR trio, and he's not counted on to be the lead dog of that trio.

Nevertheless, he has been one of the more solid and consistent receivers in the NFL over the last 8 years. Not as dynamic as OBJ at his best, but not the distraction, healthier and more consistent.

He also brings an element of speed the team hasn't had. Of course he's probably slowed a bit over time, but he ran a 4.33 at the combine.

I shouldn't say no chance. Very little chance. Whereas Wagner and Hopkins gives us a real chance.

I can see Hopkins making a contested catch down the field to win the game. I can see Wagner forcing a key fumble to turn the game around. I can't see that from Cooks or Vander Esch.

Our front office thinks small. They settle. I don't want to settle. I want to go for it.

We are a “run first”, help the defense offense now per McCarthy. We scored too many points with Moore last year. We don’t need any explosive players on offense.
You may want to wait and see. McCarthy has always been a WCO guy, we will no longer be running the coryell offense ran by Garrett and then Moore.

At this point in their careers, Cooks is better than OBJ.

Would love DHop, yes.

Did you just say a guy with six 1,000 yard receiving seasons is marginally better than a career special teamer?

You’re struggling to see the difference in production? Man have you looked at their career logs?
I recognize his production in yards but I am more focused on his production in the moments that matter. We've had two years of 49ers let downs. Now a lot of that can be attributed to the QB but the WRs hold some blame as well. Do you really believe that Cooks is the guy to elevate us in those moments? I don’t *shrugs* which means how much do we really improve in this trade? I’m pleased with the draft capital we gave up though.

W/ Cooks presenting the downfield threat, suddenly everything opens up for Lamb. This acquisition is much better than you're thinking.

No one is exactly sure what they will be getting with Hopkins . . . He may have hit The wall like Julio Jones, No one knows for sure

But we all can see that Cooks still has His Wheels. Cooks is a better fit for this team then Hopkins. He plays on the Outside and will Stretch the Field which is a great Compliment to Lamb and Gallup.

He is not just a "Speed" guy He is a Proven Route Runner and Producer . . . Based on experience, production and even Compensation this is a great deal.
