The Browns: Anyone suprised?

These next two games are huge. You have to start looking at tiebreakers for teams that are likely to be near the top. They already lost to Oakland which is good. Miami and St Louis will be up there for sure. If they can lose 2 of 3 against Miami, St Louis, and Seattle, that'll put them at 3-5. Then with 4 of the next 5 on the road, that's when the collapse could start, the Brady Quinn era could begin, and the players see that they've given up on the season and quit trying so hard.

I wonder if they knew Derek Anderson was going to be this good if they would have traded a first round pick for Brady. Anderson has always had the physical tools.

I actually think that Miami WILL beat them.

As crazy as this sounds, especially considering that the Browns are 30th in the league in run defense, I am not so sure that Ronnie Brown is not the best RB that the Dolphins have faced so far this year.

Also keep in mind that Miami's biggest weakness on defense so far this year has been against the run, and other than his huge game against Cincinatti, Jamal Lewis has NOT been anything special at all.

Exactly. The reason you cant buy Cleveland just yet is they can't stop anybody.

They are 2-3 and should be 1-4 but pulled off a miracle against Cincy who also cant play defense.

I expect us to have a top 10 pick. Cleveland looks like a 5-11 team.

Plus the teams that are bad this year all have pretty good RB's.

If Oakland plays good and Chicago cant sniff McFadden we still got a really great shot at him.

I myself will not be shocked to see them doing well...
they have talent, but they have for 2 years running had a string of of bad luck with injuries...this year they are staying relatively healthy...

with a few bounces their way they could be 2 games above .500 or when the ball bounces against them they could be 2 games below .500 but it is a pretty safe bet to think they will finish somewhere around .500

I would actually say that Cleveland is a 6-10 team. If they get all the breaks, they could very conceivably be a 8-8 team. But at the same time if they don't get any breaks, they could just as easily be a 4-12 team still.

And beat Baltimore because Baltimore can't score any points.

Cleveland will be able to compete in games as long as the opponent is a 1 dimensional team (Cincinnati, Baltimore, Oakland) but anytime they face a team that is better than decent on both offense and defense they will lose.

Yeah, definitely surprised but then I shouldn't be because whenever we have some team's 1st round pick, they tend to play well to screw us out of high 1st round pick.

I orginally thought they might get 5 wins but it looks like they may win 6 or 7 games, oh well, that's the way dice rolls sometimes.

I have never seen Dallas getting RunDMC. I see them getting Turner in F/A and a D/T and a W/R or C/B in the 1st round of next years draft.

Why would we pay big bucks for Turner (and you can bet SOMEONE will overpay for the guy in FA) when we have a guy, just as good, already on the roster?

Jerry knew what he was doing when he made the trade, he knew it was a gamble. Either way, we'll have two top rounders next year, and no doubt the Browns pick will be much higher than our real 1st rounder. I still think if Jerry feels we absolutely must have McFadden, he'll move mountains to make it happen.

It isnt too surprising given how pathetic the entire NFL is right now. I figured they would be better but would still lose to Cincy, Baltimore etc...

The Browns will win there next two games and be 4-3. I have seen every snap the Browns have taken this year and they are better than the Dolphins and Rams.

I predicted 8-8 before the year started and was told Im crazy and that they will be 3-13 and that Dallas will get Mcfadden.

Earlier in the thread someone stated how the Browns needed a "miracle" to beat the Bengals. Thats just incorrect, the Browns were leading virtually the whole day.

As far as good or bad "bounces", I would say the Browns are 0-1 on that, as I consider there lose to Oakland a bad "bounce" of the ball for them.

Having said all that, I REALLY want to see them finish 2-14.

their schedule is amazingly weak. They are headed for a 8-8 finish. Plan your draft speculation accordingly.

As far Cleveland's record relates to Dallas possibly obtaining the rights to McFadden, this is how I see it.

Teams with two wins or less:

Bills - Just spent a #11 overall on Lych a RB.
McFadden=Not likely.

Jets - All around bad team, need a star player. Drafted QB Kellen Clemens in 2006. McFadden=Likely.

Dolphins - Invested premium pick on Ronnie Brown just a few years ago. Spend a 2nd on QB John Beck last year. Brown is not great by any stretch, but have other more pressing needs. McFadden=Not likely.

Bengals - I think they will end up with a better record than Cleveland. Defense should be a priority, but McFadden could potentally be irresistable paired with Palmer TJ. "Championship" and Johnson. McFadden=Not likely (unless they continue to tank, then likely)

Raiders - Just invested #1 overall on QB. McFadden would be a no brainer. McFadden=Likely

Chargers - They will end up with better record than Cleveland not to mention they have some guy by the name of LT. McFadden=No way.

Broncos - They should also end up with a better record than Cleveland, but if for some reason they do not then things could get interesting. McFadden=Not likely (unless they tank)

Chiefs - Just signed Larry Johnson to a long term deal. McFadden=No way.

Eagles - I think they end up with a better record than Cleveland. If they do not, this would be a tough call, but I would call it likely to draft McFadden. McFadden=Not likely (Unless they continue to tank)

Bears - Just invested premium pick on Benson. They need a QB in the worst way. McFadden=Not likely.

Vikings - Adrian Peterson. McFadden=No way.

Falcons - They will be searching for a new QB with their top pick. McFadden=Not likely.

Saints - Lost Deuce for the year...again. Bush is not an everydown back. McFadden=Likely.

49ers - They have more pressing needs than replacing an already good young back in Gore. McFadden=Not likely.

Rams - The Rams have Stephen Jackson, and have more pressing needs. McFadden=No way.

So in a nutshell if McFadden is what Dallas is in the run for with Cleveland's #1 pick the Jets, Raiders, and Saints could be the ones that are most likely to get in the way.

Obviously there are a few teams with at least one win more than Cleveland that could end up with a worse record, but that was more than I wanted to deal with.

There is no way in hell the Ram's let Jackson go, he's their franchise RB. He hasn't produced because their team has been inept, you think after the season he had last year, they are ready to give up on him already?
