Payton was smart enough to see Fujita and Shanle could play.
Or maybe they had Gary Gibbs, our former linebacker coach, as their defensive coordinator and he just brought in players he was familiar with.

LOL. Of course, with Shanle and Fujita and Gibbs as coordinator they went on to field one of the worst defenses in the league for several years.

They're system players, you only need fast and serviceable linebackers in the 4-3, not superstars.

you didn't see a shove because it didn't happen. that would be why you're in a minority of one.

Actually, that's exactly what I thought, too.

Does NO face the Vikings at all this season? Not take anything away from the Giants but if they play the Vikes and dominate them I'll think they are legit SB worthy.

Probably will in the NFC Championship.

They don't but I still would say they're legit.

Their defense wasn't anything to write home about until this year.

It's a long season. Teams that look this good early on can fade late and vice versa.

The Saints are doing the exact same thing to the Giants as the Cowboys had... with the exception of four dumb miscues.

These Saints are winners, kind of bitter sweet with Sean Payton at the helm and a Texas born quarterback under center.

i think those two are for real, thus far the NFC is also the evidently stronger conference again.

They both can run the ball, which will be critical in January, although ironically both are dome teams.

very true. 3-4 is tricky because you need to have all the pieces in place to have a dominant front seven. I still don't think we have all the pieces to run the 3-4 correctly here but maybe we fix that next yrs draft.

Uh....because Shanle wasn't any good and Carpenter was a freshly drafted first rounder?

What idiot would choose Shanle at that point over Carpenter?

Nors.....oh never mind.
