The Dallas Cowboys have officially dipped beneath the Campo Line, which is an entirely subjective and humorous indicator that I've created. In essence, a team dips below the Campo Line when its constituents -- both players and coaches -- take turns performing poorly from week to week. The Campo Line marks a complete lack of consistency.

The Broncos are precisely whom I thought they were. Unfortunately, I'm always refusing to believe that the Cowboys are who they consistently show themselves to be.

Among fans, it's a popular belief that the Cowboys are a dormant juggernaut, and if some hotshot coach could simply find the right switch, the Cowboys would reveal their true talent and proceed to dominate the entire league -- in other words, if the Cowboys could be made to show more consistency, limit their turnovers, and stop committing penalties, they would show us just how great they truly are.

This simply isn't the case; turnovers, inconsistency, and penalties are hallmarks of mediocre teams, and the Cowboys' record demonstrates their mediocrity: 2-2 this season, and 12-12 in ther last 24 games.

Many fan will be clamoring for the jobs of Wade Phillips and Jason Garrett this week, and goodness knows they deserve as much blame as anyone...well, almost anyone.

But do you honestly believe new coaches will produce different results?

The team needs a culture change - if we bring in a new organizational philosophy, then in time, such a change will produce results.

Great post. But yes, I do think a coaching change will help.

That being said, 99% of us on this board have overrated the talent level of this team, myself included.

Too many boneheaded players, sand lot guys and JAGs stubbornly offered up as franchise saviours for our faith.

As of now? No. We need new coaches in the off-season. The definition of stupid is doing something the same way and expecting different results. No tackling in training camp, no accountability, and no heart from the players. It all leads back to the coaches. Your team reflects your Head Coach.

Either

Bill Cowher
Jon Gruden

That order.

As long as Jerry is the GM we need to all get used to it.

Well, one man Jerry interviewed and passed on is doing more with "less"...

Coach Singletary...

isnt that one of the more popular things to discuss here? Coaches that do more with less, etc.

I am just sayin....

I think a coaching change will have a positive impact, obviously if a good coach is hired.

I think this team does have talent. Maybe it is overrated, but just a little bit. I think I've seen too many errors - players lining up incorrectly, not knowing the plays, receivers turning wrong or running the wrong route, delay of games - that point more towards a lack of coaching than talent. But, then again, maybe that is on the players. So, who really knows?

I guess if we knew the answers, we'd be in the NFL in a managerial position.

Great point. How many times do we see our players having to hurry because they are out of position on the snap or another player having to direct them into the proper spot to be.

Says a LOT

Do you honestly believe Cowher or Gruden would be able to overcome the culture of mediocrity that the owner and GM continues to perpetuate?

Players just need to play better.....

Is it talent?

we dumb down our scheme...

We make it simple for Romo...

We try to become a rushing team to control Tony and his mistakes....

We change the chemistry of the lockerroom to make it easier on the players.....

Players need to make plays......coaches dont run routes....coaches dont throw passes high...wide....or for picks...

Coaches dont tackle....

Im sorry but the issues run deeper then coaching....

Players have to be accountable.....make that catch...beat that man....make that right decision.........make a play

As long as JJ is the GM.

We will never win a SB as long as he is calling the football shots

maybe we need new players?.i still think its garrett .he can win this offense irrespective of the opposing defense but he continues to make inexplicable calls at the most inopportune time.

I have to believe they would do a lot more w/ this team than our current head football coach.

I have kept my mouth shut a lot when it comes to Wade. I want him to succeed, I really do, but everytime I look at him when the camera pans to him, i get a sick feeling in the bottom of my stomach.

The 4th quater wasnt even over and I was getting txt messages that we would lose the game.

I held out hope but I knew inside that it was true. We were tied and I knew Dallas wasn't going to win.

Just felt it. The team made a great effort at the end, but why does it always have to come down to the end for them to finally start making things happen.

I just dont understand and Im tired of holding out hope.
