the case for one RB

LOL @ People wanting us to draft an running back.

We need to look at the O-line.

We don't need to draft a back. We just need to abandon this 3 running back attack.

I cant make a case for one RB for lots of reasons. None have distinguished themselves to this point, alot has to do with the O Line. The days of an Earl Campbell toting the rock 30 times are long in the rear view mirror. Finally, while I agree they need more balance, the NFL is primarily a passing league.

i think 3 guys is just to many.

why not follow the '06 '07 plan that was so successful?
let felix play the julius jones role (267 carries) and move barber back into the role that made him a star (135 carries and 14 td's).
i'm cool with barber making the big bucks if he's pounding out a win and scoring td's like the barbarian.

choice rides the pine as insurance, gets carries in mop up duty or gets traded for a pick/player and they bring up miller to be the 3rd back.

all I know is the current plan isn't working, the razorback is a joke and something needs to be done.

Start felix and make sure he gets it at least 15 times a game. Use Barber as the closer and Choice as fill for Felix.

Barber doesn't need to be traded. Barber just needs to keep getting fed the rock.

When he gets in a rhythm he moves the offense. He was breaking runs early in the game against the bears. What happens? Jason Garrett takes him out and puts in Felix Jones then the drive stalls. This three headed running attack is just wasting these running backs.

Facts! Barber is outperforming Jones this season. But Jones should absolutely get his touches. Choice as 3rd down back. I like the 3-headed monster option play. Only problem is Choice wants to prove himself so bad that he'll never pitch out on an option. But i think we need to beat opponents heads in with Barber first, then send in Jones once they get used to Barber. Ive seen a few plays already that tell me Choice isnt ready to be the starting RB. Jones gets stuffed a lot running between the tackles.

On another note, can we put a moratorium on 1st down celebrations? Im sick of all the 1st down celebrations, only to watch an int, fumble, or punt a few plays later. Embarassing.

Interesting discussion here. I'm for 1 back being the primary guy. I'm not sure at this point who the better back is.

Barber- he's getting most carries and is a good RB with no threat of a long breakaway run whatsoever. And everytime he gains 5,6 or 10 yards he acts as though he's done something really special. His whole me against the world act is getting old. I feel he is OVERPAID.

Choice- he to me is the most interesting back of them all, though he has not been given an opportunity to play much. I believe the one year he played when someone was injured he did really well. I like Choice.

Jones- I can't figure out why he has not been giventhe opportunity to be the featured back here. I say put him in there and lets see what we got. He is the most explosive dynamic back we have, a back that can take it to the house on any given play.

I don't like the three headed scheme either at RB.
I say trade 1 (Barber) and keep Jones and Choice.

We have another playmaker as well who is being under utilized, he goes by the name of Dez Bryant...

Playmakers makle plays yet the two outstanding playmakers we have are often seen on the sidelines (Jones..D Bryant)....THis just drives me crazy..........

I think teams have been brainwashed into the RB by committee thing. Some teams are able to do it successfully. Giants with Earth Wind and Fire come to mind, so do the Dolphins because they are the best at executing the Wildcat. Other teams cannot do this. There is no other team that executes the wildcat nearly as well as the Dolphins. Other teams can go one RB at 20 to 25 carries because they have a stud.

I just think teams have bought to much into the RB 2 or 3 headed monster thing because they're scared of injury. Well, 7 to 10 years ago you ran your guys into the ground and when they got hurt the back up came in. If you're scared of injury then rotate them by the game, not the series. MB3 gets 25 this week, FJ gets 25 next week while MB3 gets 5 to 8 and some rest, etc. It's the same thing as the committee. You reduce the wear and tear as you would by committee but you give your O line and RB some feel and some rhythm. Maybe that's too innovative for some. Don't know until you try. Dolphins tried something and it worked.

I really agree with the rhythm thing, but not so much the RB, more so the O line. There is a definite feel for a guy, where he's going to be, timing and such.

I wouldn't mind a whole sale change of the interior O line at this point. Bring in Costa and Bright and let them battle. They may not be great but they're going to battle guys to the end. They're young and looking to put food on the table.

Come to think of it, Choice comes in practically for any 3rd down play, especially 3rd and short. That pretty much tips your hand to the defense because more often than not it's either TC between the tackles, TC on a sweep, TC handed off to from the shotgun or the 3rd and 4 swing pass. Three RB's coming in at various situations depending on down and distance I think tips your hand.

The offensive line needs to be rebuilt and schemed around the unique, explosive talented running back named Felix Jones. That means more Doug Frees and more Kyle Kosiers. That means zone blocking.

This guy is a tough inside runner; he runs hard. He led the Cowboys in yards after contact (per carry). However, the goal isn't to pound him inside like a jackhammer. That would be stupid. Jones is too explosive for that. You want him stretching the defense on both edges and using his speed and power, inside and outside.

This guy in a zone blocking scheme would be deadly, because that blocking scheme stretches the defense laterally and gives you a cutback lane. Jones could make one cut and pick a running lane and hit it hard. Furthermore, his speed and quickness and elusiveness would put enormous pressure on the defense, because they would have to choose which way they are going to cheat. Do I cheat over to pursue Jones to the open running lane, or do I cheat the backside cut-back lane?

If you get this guy the football in some space or give him a running lane or a cutback lane, he will destroy teams.

I bet the Commanders would like to have him.

If Felix Jones doesn't rush for 1200-1400 yards, this team is going no where. You can all print that in big, black letters.

I think this triple headed RB attack is not working for multiple reasons and its not just that our OL maybe not good at run blocking. Rbs need a few carries to get into a groove, establish rythim and so do the OL men. they need to establish rythm with the RB. get a feel for how he runs, where he runs, etc.

we have three RBs and we are trying to appease them and give each some carries. I think 3 is way too many. not enough for them to establish rythm. not enough to get a feel for the game.

I am not a huge Felix Jones fans, despite the talent. he is flashy, but I have yet to see him win a game because he was the big factor in the game. he has had some spactacular runs, but mostly in games where the offense has played great in general.

but with that said, he is a first round RUNNING BACK, so quit protecting him. use his arse and lets find out for once and all what we got. call the contract to barber a mistake and move forward.

lets make Felix the starter. give him most of the carries. get him the ball 20 times a game and let see what we got. but I have read and heard the team is afraid that felix might get injured if he runs too much between the tackles....so I buy a ferrari, put it in the garage and drive my toyota to work....***!!!

or make barber the starter, get him 20 carries and use felix in a hybrid mode like Reggie bush and admit that he is not an every down back.

forget about choice.....let him sit and complain and lets find out what we got.

but this three headed monster is more like a three headed ant that gets crushed too easily. ......
Umm...........

Wow...........
