The CeeDee nose wipe celebration is now a 15 yard penalty

Did they? I thought I remember Lamb getting the nose wipe from some rap video. Depending on the rapper, it wouldn't surprise me for a gang sign to be used.
You are right. It’s used a lot in rap starting in 2014. There is a tube video called “Which Rapper Made Wipe His Nose Popular”.

It’s not used with loving intent.

Having no love for rap, I had never seen it used before Lamb started doing it. I've always thought it was kind of a dumb celebration, but I don't know whether he was using it because of how it was intended or because he thought it was cool. Anyway, I really don't have a problem with it going away. Maybe he'll switch to a homage to Michael Irvin.

I guess they can be penalized for that now. I can hear the coaches say during a cold weather game, "No wiping! You suck that snot back into your brain!"
Lol, pretty soon it’s going to be a 15 yard penalty for adjusting their jock strap or pulling a creeper out. God forbid someone sneeze on the field, that might be an automatic ejection.

um...sorry i really don't get it. Why is this a violent gesture?
For the same reason extending both middle fingers towards the opposing team's bench would be considered provocative. A simple hand gesture that has been appropriated to have a specific meaning.

Yea, I’m not sure either. I can understand why the league has an issue with it. In the videos I saw, it’s being used to represent taking someone out.

yeah, I don't even know why they play the game, why don't each get on the field and dance around and jester and at the end of 15 minutes, the best dancing and jestering wins the game.

We can start the kids young, like 2, and teach them how to dance and throw up hand signs. When they get really good they can be put into a show, let's make up once and call it dancing with the star athletes.

Sounds like someone doesn't know the diff between a throat cut and a nose wipe gesture. o_O

Crazy , throat cut and nose wipe same?

I dontunderstand the nose wipe anyway.
PUT A EARBUD IN CD'S HELMET , for a few games and whisper nonose wipe , LOL

Well the fact that we feel in today's NFL that we need a celebration after every little thing that is accomplished is totally lame in itself.

As far as the nose wipe being a violent gesture well maybe in today's world among certain small groups of people and their subculture .

But most average people don't associate this with something violent now Deacon Jones head slap that's a violent gesture in the NFL world.

The NFL should really stay in its Lane instead of buying into the symbolic expressions of countercultures

Agreed for some reason the league has decided to recognize the symbolic expressions of some small counterculture and force they're negative connotations on the NFL viewing public.

Something ugly about it...

Nothing against CeeDee...he's one of my favorite players..

I think it means he's got a cold(runny nose) because he's cold on the football field...

But there is just something not right with the look of it...I can't put my finger on it. I wish his signature celebration was different than that action
We could roll out the Ole Salvation Army barrel trick again.

Doesn’t really impact me one way or the other but I understand the NFL wanting to protect their brand. Rap is not a small counterculture and it’s used a lot in the music. And if it’s used to represent ending someone, I get it. It’s the NFL’s call and it raises my stress level 0% either way.
