Just connecting some dots here. Philly trading for Bradford: no way it was to keep him, or else they would have already restructured his $12.9M salary for this year, lowered his cap hit, and locked him up beyond this year (he's a free agent in 2016). Clearly, Chip thinks Bradford is bait to move up to #2 with TEN to get Mariota.

However, heard today that San Diego has a private workout set up with Mariota. And that Philip Rivers intends to "play out his contract," which expires after this year. Who was Rivers' offensive coordinator in 2013 when he had his best season as a QB? That's right, Ken Whisenhunt, the current head coach of TEN.

So... on draft day, I think San Diego trades Rivers to TEN for the #2 pick, and San Diego takes Mariota. Chip cries and is stuck with Bradford...

Heard that as well. Draft night will be interesting. I think it will be a long wait before we heard Dallas' pick.

The Eagles gave up a 2nd round pick to get Bradford. While I think they would trade up to get him if he fell close to them, and he could be had reasonably, I think Bradford is likely the plan right now.

Why would Tenn want a 33 year old QB, when they can draft Mariota? Makes no sense.

San diegos 1 and 2 and a 2 next year along with Rivers, I would do it. Groom Metenberger behind Rivers. I don't think Mariota will be much in the NFL.

If Bradford is the plan, and you gave up a 2nd round pick, why wouldn't you renegotiate his deal as part of the trade and lock him up long term? I've never seen a trade of a top pick, especially for a QB, that did not involve the QB agreeing to a new contract... unless the plan all along is to re-trade him and allow the new team to renegotiate its own deal...

Chargers wont trade rivers.

Maybe not, but they could be in Los Angeles next year. And maybe starting fresh with a west coast kid who can be new face of franchise (and relatively much cheaper, giving them cap room) is what they are thinking...

Couple issues I see with this: don't think the Eagles try to lock up Sam Bradford long term without him even taking a snap in Philly, not with his injury history. It's one thing to trade picks for a guy, but to then commit money to him long term when they have no idea if he'll stay healthy? No thanks. And Bradford isn't agreeing to an incentives based long term contract, he'd rather pull a Greg Hardy and try to be great this year and set himself up for free agency next year.

Plus, and while I think Rivers is great and underrated, I don't know if I can see a team trading a number 2 overall pick for him. Even if the Titans are not sold on Mariota, I think I'd rather roll the dice on a 21 year old with the potential for greatness than trade for a 33 year old QB with only a few good years left.
