The Cooper Effect

The problem was never Amari Cooper. The problem is this offense and team have more issues than missing a #1 WR. I will say at least now we don't have to wait till April to unwrap our 1st round pick.

so the conclusion is exactly what some said it was. That REAL receivers would improve the way Dak plays. CHECK!!!!!

Better receivers will improve any QB, even bad ones. That's not the question. The question is if that is enough to make Dak a true franchise QB. That remains to be seen.

Well, two actually. And as I said, it is a small sample size. But it does show that having a real threat at receiver has helped the passing game.

But make no mistake, NFL defensive coordinators are going to make adjustments. Which have usually befuddled Garrett and Linehan. We’ll see.

...Dak didn't look very good last week. Neither did Zeke.

So, one game.

If Cooper elevates this passing offense and qb to a playoff contender a first round pick is a bargain.

Dal WR avg separation
Games 1-7: 2.2 yd (32nd)
Games 8-9: 3.0 yd (11th)

Dallas QB passer rating
Games 1-7: 87.4
Games 8-9: 101.2

I don't believe that's all because of Cooper, but it's worth keeping an eye on for the next few weeks.

The 3rd down catches are pretty significant. Too many times WRs dropped key 3rd down conversions before Cooper got here.

We can still trade for Dez. He should be cheaper now that he's out for the season.

While Cooper’s addition has been a great help, teams will start making adjustments to his presence soon. And once again this coaching staff will have to show that they have learned something about in-season adjustments.

The NFL season is a constant chess match between coaches who study film and make effective adjustments...and those who can’t. In order for Cooper to stay an effective weapon, these coaches are going to have to continue finding ways to use him and add some new wrinkles. So far that has been Garrett and Linehan’s downfall. We’ll see.
It's really hard to stop a route running guru. You can triple team him but now Zeke eats

It’s only a two game sample size, but Amari Cooper is having a very positive effect on Dak and the Cowboys offense. His presence has had an immediate impactful improvement and here are some quick examples of that evidence:

1. Before Cooper, Dak’s completion rate was 62%. Since Cooper’s arrival, it’s up to 70%.

2. Before Cooper, the third down conversion rate for the Cowboys offense was an anemic 31%, near the bottom of the league. In the two games since his arrival, 3rd down conversion rate has improved to 48%.

3. Cooper has 11 receptions in two games- 9 of those 11 receptions were on 3rd down and resulted in a first down.

4. With Cooper’s presence on the field, defenses are having to roll more coverage to him, opening up more opportunities for Beasley, Gallup and Hurns.

Again, it’s a small sample size, but Amari Cooper has had an immediate positive impact. For Dak, having at least one serious threat at WR gives him so much more to work with.

I was wrong about this trade. I did not like it at first, but I will gladly eat some crow. Now it’s up to this coaching staff (God help us) to take advantage of the team’s new offensive prowess, lol.

Don't forget we saw Hurns do something in these last 2 games he hadn't done his 1st few games here. He shook a defender with how he ran his route, got open, scored once and nearly scored last week.

...yes, Sunday night. How did they looks against the Titans?

Zeke and Dak weren't playing Defense when the Dallas allowed the Titans to convert 80% of their 3rd downs - which is twice this team's normal rate.

He did, but every WR is going to look better as a #4 WR drawing single coverage than a #2 forced into the #1 WR spot who draws double coverage.

Just stop.

Dak had a costly INT in the red zone, had a fumble he lost. Zeke had 17 carries and averaged under 4 yards.

What is the "Cooper effect"? One game where he did diddly poo for the rest of our offense and another game you folks are trying to put all on him?

Just ridiculous. We played well because Philly is a .500 team and we got them on their bad night.
