The Cow thinks Cowher is our next coach

I think Jerry Jones already has his office hard wired to some "little" institution in South Bend, IN.

Hal Mumme, the coach at New Mexico State, was out of the game for awhile after being fired at Kentucky. He told me that he's "not very good at not being a coach."

That's Parcells, too.

But I keep thinking about that big house he just had built in upstate New York.

Hey Chief, what kind of recruiting year did you guys have this off season?

No, no, no. It's Stoops, remember? Jerry Jones is too poor to buy out Weis' contract at Notre Dame.

This would never happen and you're foolish if you think it's even remotely possible.

guys, now here's the tricker

what if Cowher leaves the Steelers in 2 years, wants to go coach the Panthers, the Panthers let John Fox leave...and BP is still the COwboy's coach

what then do you do?

I hope not. I wonder how many Super Bowls Pittsburgh would have won if Belichick or Parcells would have been coaching them instead of Cowher for all these years? I just don't see what is so great about Cowher.

Bone
out.

I would start with paying him the highest salary ever given to an assistant coach (one that would make Gregg Williams' eyes protrude more from his skull than they already do) with the express contractual clause that states he is head coach when Coach Parcells steps down. After that, you have got me.

You guys?

Hey, I'm not associated with that group. I just share a town with them.

They stocked up on offensive linemen. Their best newcomer, however, is their QB -- transfer from SE Louisiana named Chase Holbrook. He'll put up big numbers in Mumme's offense. THey also have a transfer from Miami -- WR named Jolla who is a senior.

They may give the Lobos a game.

I live 5 or 10 miles from the home Mr. and Mrs. Cowher are building here in Raleigh, and rumors are circulating here that Cowher's next coaching stop will probably be at his and the Mrs. alma mater (NC State). Seems the present Wolfpack's coach may be on a short leash these days, and expectations from the program's boosters are always sky high. Only talk, right now.

Maybe down the road, but I think Cowher is going to take a 1-2 year sabbatical from the game after this year. But I'm not as sure that Parcells is going to retire after this year as many people are. He doesn't seem nearly as stressed this year as he has in past years. Very few comments about "alligators" this training camp. Its never going to be 100% perfect, but I think by and large he finally has his team in place.

This scenario seems plausible to me. If the Boys do really well, then Parcells might want to try for a repeat, If they come close, then he may want to stick around and get the big prize. Makes sense for Cowher to sit back and wait.

Well, I know you have a soft place in your heart for Those Aggs. :D

Either way, thank you for the local intel. It is certainly appriciated.

I'm sure Gregg Williams would not be too happy with that...

Considering the whispers around DC is when williams signed his new contract it was more or less understood he would take over for Giblets when he retires again a couple of years.

Since between the buyout and paying him more then he is making now for at least 4-5 years JJ would have to pony up about $30 million, I just do not see him going after Weis unless he sees no other choice.

What coaches would be a good fit if this is Parcells last year???

Stoopes-You know with Bomar's bonehead decision they just kissed the championship away before the season even starts.
The Iowa coach Kirk Farentz-A good young coach who always get's the best out of his players.
The Pittsburgh Steeler's def. coordinator Dick LeBeau-If anyone could take our 3-4 to another level it would be this guy. He had a stint in Cincy as the head coach and it was not good. However Bilichek didn't fare to well in Cleveland in his first stint either.
