News: The Cowboys and the Ravens lead the NFL in drug-related suspensions

Yeah this bums me out, but if we get him for the playoffs a fresh and ever ready Randy Gregory could be the fire cracker we need to win the Super Bowl.
Absolutely! And imagine having him back next year ready to roll. He is another game changer, along with Jaylon, that are adds to this defense that can swing the pendulum mightily. He's still only 24.

I mean the poster you quoted is a huge jerry and Garrett apologist
And?

I still am confused. Help me out here.

I was making light of the huge gap of understanding of what a RKG is and @Idgit's failed attempts at explaining it to a lot of folks here.

I hate Jerry the GM, have hope in Garrett, and couldn't care less what Idgit's stance is on the two (Jones/Garrett) in regards to this thread.

With all due respect, Visionary.

No prob buddy
It is a long explanation

Garrett has a whole team of RKG choir boys and still can't keep them in line or win after 6 years. The defining aspects of Garretts coaching tenure have been mediocrity and lack of discipline and accountability

It's hard for me to hate Jerry but I understand where some peeps don't agree with his moves. I know personally of a lot of stuff that's he's done for his players that go waaaaaaay beyond his duty. The man has a huge heart.

Gm wise I can see some issues but as person, he's one of the best

Cowboys go after talent with red flags that is the risk. Myself I would have avoided Gregory despite the talent he has on McClain I saw that as a fairly risk free move on a FA, his pay and short contract made it worth the risk.

Good stuff, Loc. I agree, dude has a heart of a champion, which is pretty rare for the wealth and prestige he's achieved.

I just can't stand the GM version of him.

Well, at least our Cowboys are getting known for something (the most stoners) although it's not overly complimentary!! We may not have the most intelligent players in the NFL but at least we can lay claim to having some of the happiest . . . until they get caught, that is!!

Dude -- you're the man! I couldn't have put it any better myself! Jerry means well.

But sometimes, I just think that his GM inclinations betray his 40-yr. old brain. :D

Randy Gregory and Jourdan Lewis aren't RKG's ;)

(I love messing with you, Idgit, but I do so only rarely :))

Like I always say, anybody paying attention knows the problem with this team is chemistry.

Lol, no. I don't always say that. Because that would be a stupid thing to say.

Don't let visionary bait you on the 'Jerry apologist' stuff. He says that because it fits the narrative he's got in his head. The reality is, the Cowboys don't have a problem with the kinds of guys they've assembled for their team, and they really haven't under Jason Garrett. They did take a couple of shots on some questionable players because the owner likes those risks, but they compartmentalized them as they should have, and they got rid of the personalities that didn't conform to what they wanted on the field. The 'choir boy' thing is for casual fans who haven't paid attention or for posters with lame agendas.

As far as apologizing for Jerry goes, I'll say what I always say about Jerry. He's a mixed bag. He wants to win, and he doesn't mind spending money. He's loyal to his players and coaches, and he's a good custodian of the Cowboys brand. It's important to him. But he takes unnecessary risks that put his team at a disadvantage to the market, he hurts the team by publicly minimizing his coaches, he undermines the authority of the coaching staff with his open door policy to players, and he intentionally engages in things that--while good for the brand--damage the team because they're unnecessary distractions or because they focus the spotlight on the Cowboys in was that aren't conducive to focussing on football. He's basically a wild card in your deck, in a league where success comes from minimizing bad moves and minimizing bad plays. He makes it tough.

I've said these same things about Jerry for years. I'll defend him against a childish criticism, but he doesn't get a lot of cover from me because I think he makes the HC job in Dallas more difficult than it needs to be, overall. I don't think any body reasonable reads that an thinks I'm apologizing for anything, either. But it doesn't matter. Jerry's not going anywhere anyway, and that fact is one of the big reasons I think JG is such a good fit for us. There are a lot of good coaches who could win a lot of game elsewhere who might not have success with the current system in Dallas.

No need to defend yourself, good sir. I know your stances. This is a great post I'm replying to -- I hope others read it, rather than attack it.

I agree with everything you said about Jerry, however, I'm a bit more bullish on him and his incompetence as a GM, but that's neither here nor there.

It simply amazes me that people have such a tough time with what RKG means. It's baffling really. But keep fighting that good fight, Idgit. I would have grown tired a long, long time ago. :)

Edit -- I like JG right now. He's proven his mettle the past three years for my benefit of the doubt. I do think he needs to take us a bit deeper this postseason, tho. I'm confident he can.

If he doesn't, I'll worry about that then, rather than prognosticate doom and gloom beforehand.

Also, "apologist" is a trite word. The very definition of such. Pure garbage.
