Actually, I titled this wrong. I meant to title it interesting factoid.

We can’t win the 4 seed because there can never be a situation where we have a worse record than the NFC South winner. Thus if we win the division, we can even be 1,2,or 3 seed. But we cannot be 4.

I’m a stat geek. If that’s not interesting to you, move on.

It is interesting. Thanks!

The Cowboys can still win the number one seed. Or they can win 2,3,5,6,7.

But they mathematically cannot win the number 4 seed.

This is the first year I think they should throw away the division winner gets automatic home game format.
Would be sweet if they can knock off the egirls for the division and number one seed.

That should have been gone a long time ago. Someone from the NFC South will probably make the playoffs with a losing record. Its ridiculous.
Disagree totally. It would be fine if all NFC teams played the same teams, but that’s not the way it is. Nor is it reasonably possible with 16 teams in a Conference and 17 game schedule. Absent that, teams and divisions will be advantaged based on the strength or weakness of their schedule.

Using this year as an example, the NFC West has played the NFC South so the West teams have an advantage.

I’m a season ticket holder and have been for 33 years. I go to every game except Thanksgiving and would love to have another home game to go to after the Eagles. But if doesn’t come to fruition, it just means they shouldn't have spit the bit in GB.
