With the draft coming up, we will need to pay our rookies, so there's a little fee for that. You may not get the guy that you want, so after the draft we may look at sign a few veterans who we have on our radar. We're clearly mindful of the comp pick formula timeframe which is sometime after the draft (April 28th?).

You sign Micah Parsons finally to his mega deal, and you gain more money.

It'll be interesting to see how much of it we use, and how much we roll over. If I'm the Cowboys, I lock up Tyler Smith also. But what do I know, I'm just a guy with a family, who wants your thoughts! Please give me your thoughts!

Wow, $38 million, I was thinking it was around $20 million.

I can easily see 5 or 6 players at the $1.1 million being released. But they will need to sign other players to replace them.
Not sure what the rookie cap pool is, have they announced it yet?

I do not see any vet FA out there that will demand a lot of money. They only way that cap spaced is used, besides several of their own players. Is if they make a trade and absorb that players contract.

I see them more of doing nothing, other than for Parsons and Bland, possibly Smith extensions.
Then whatever they can carry over into 2026, they will be in great shape to sign players that will actually help get us to the SB.

Build this year with the draft as usual. Make big FA moves in 2026. As 2025 is still part of the soft rebuild.

If they make the same mistake with Bland that they did with Diggs the fans should be angry.

You cannot pay ludicrous contracts to guys because of 1 good season.
You have to wait until after this season to extend Bland.
Now Tyler I would do it NOW since he is not coming off of a great season; but he has shown what he can do ,

Personally, I've already given up on next season, they can't improve enough to be competitive so I'm hoping they keep their powder dry as much as is possible til next year.

I could be even more negative and say that they may as well stop trying until Dak is history but I don't want to come across as dangerously miserable

Not sure what dangerous miserable is..maybe harming others or thngs.....but, I try not to let the Cowboys make me miserable. Do they disappoint me and make me sad? Yes...but I'll be damned if they're going to make me miserable. Screw them!! LOL

Yeah, that's kinda my point, if I'm too negative it makes it seem like I care more than I should and I don't.

I agree. Pay Tyler as soon as possible.

Bland can wait. another new DC, injured last year. Who knows if he's the INT machine or was that a flash in the pan?

Yes, make this a "prove it" year for Bland.
If they draft a CB higher in the draft. That may be a sign what direction they may go.That and with trading for Elam they may be looking at replacing Diggs and Bland.

My thoughts….

Cap space is irrelevant since there’s no one left on the market that’s going to change what this team is capable of.

They weren’t good enough three years ago, and have gotten worse each year since, while the division has gotten better. One draft…especially without extra premium picks…has no shot of changing that.

Not too worried about that cause they'll wait till the very last minute to re-sign him especially if he has a good year. Only way they do it early is if they see it as some Gallup/JSmith deal where they feel they can take advantage. Obviously, those didn't work out as well as they thought along w/the Diggs deal.
