The Browns recently stated they are NOT trading Garrett.
Remember Bosa is currently the highest-paid edge at $35M. Also, word is you can add T.J. Watt to this list .........he only has one year left on his current deal.

** he and Garrett are both over 30, Parsons will be 26 in May

With Bosa and TJ, all the more reason to get something done with Parsons. I don't think the Steelers will wait on Watt.

Given the news of Myles Garrett wanting a trade breaking today, the Cowboys need to make a decision on Micah Parsons soon. I learned on the Pat McAfee Show today that Garrett has not got much guaranteed money on his contract remaining. If the Browns do not trade him, he will probably be extended to a massive deal. If he gets traded, he's going to command a lot of money.

This puts the ball in Jerry's court with Parsons. I think that the Cowboys need to decide what they want to do with Micah Parsons. If we are going to extend Parsons, then we need to do that ASAP while it's cheaper to do so. I don't want to go through another offseason where they are waiting until training camp to extend him like Dak and Lamb. The sooner we do it, the more money we can save. Additionally, the language of the contract could free up cap space, so that's another good reason to do it soon.

Alternatively, if they want to move on from Parsons, they should be floating Parsons out for trade deals before the draft so we can get as many picks as possible. Like Garrett with the Browns if they trade him, we would likely get a haul for Parsons.

In either case, the Joneses need to make a decision soon on Parsons. Either option is correct as far as I am concerned, provides that it's done before the draft and is done before something is done with Garrett.
also, they might want to get Tyler Smith done..

Well, and it'll drive Parsons' price up. So, again, chop chop Jerry
I believe what you want but we heard Parson say he's not trying to be the top paid non quarterback you know that whole nonsense like he wants to be the highest paid non quarterback in the league as far as top deals go he wasn't pushing for that therefore top five deal sounds fair so if you give him what third highest defensive end pass rushing linebacker pay he'll probably take it but that could be just talk but we'll find out where their heads are....

I don't think it's a mad rush to try to keep the prices from going up who is the LastPass rushing defensive end to get paid that would be where your numbers would likely start to try to find something fair first offer.

this will drag out for a while. it helps jerry to keep cowboys in the media in the off season. he will feed the media stuff (anonomously) and will milk it.
Parsons isn't going anywhere. there is a cap, so Jerry has that to control spending as an excuse, but Parsons was top 5 in jersey sales. no way in heck Jerry is going to let that get away from him.

Unless JJ can pull off a Herchel Walker type trade, trading MP would be a public relations disaster for the Cowboys.

NIco no Nico LOL RIP Luka

bye LUKA

what a disaster that was did it overnight, didn't even talk to the head coach, didn't talk to the player, the player just closed on a $15 million house, there was never even any smoke, came out of left field and didn't even get your full value when you talking about a Walker type trade that is what we should have got from Luka, I mean at least three more 1sts and another player they got robbed,

we talking about Jerry moving down to #2 as one of the most hated GM's in DFW because it's Nico Harrison right now...

I'm sure it looks like they need to get their list together start general talks with their own FAS and possible extensions, but they got about a month before this really heats up I think it's around March 4th- 12th reading this list of important dates...

https://operations.nfl.com/gameday/nfl-schedule/2025-important-nfl-dates/

Yes, and that's probably the case, but they should be thinking now about what they want to do and formulating a plan with contingency plans. For example, if Parsons doesn't agree to a deal by x day before the new league year or before the draft, they will seek trade partners, especially if Watt gets paid, say, $37 mil per year. They need to figure out at what price range it's time to trade and get as many draft picks as possible.

I understand what he said, but I'm also not exactly expecting him to take a bottom tier salary either.

https://overthecap.com/position/interior-defensive-line

The above link shows that the highest paid dlineman is Chris Jones of the Chiefs at $31 mil. Now, he is a dt, but you gotta imagine that Garrett and Watt are still going to use his current deal as a baseline. So, I'm going to guess that they will be getting at least $32 mil (obviously not all guaranteed). The sooner they can do something with Micah, the sooner they can get that done and maybe free up cap space for other deals. So, to me, they need to get on with it. Plus, perhaps a deal with Parsons can keep Osa in Dallas if they want him. So, in every facet, it would behoove the Cowboys to get on with the deals or decide to trade where needed, as opposed to waiting until training camp or right before the start of the season to work things out.

so 34 is the top as of now,

but MP is hybrid pass rushing LBer, wheres his number? he said not 40,not market resetting, so 30-35?

Which makes what I saw even more pivotal in my previous post. So, the Cowboys need to decide right now do they want to allocate $35 mil to Parsons. Oh, and if TJ Watt (his closest comparison in terms of talent and abilities) gets $35 mil, what do they have to offering, or do they need to trade him? I'm not saying they necessarily need to make a deal today, but they should be sorting out their strategy and what contingencies. Then, by the start of the new League year, they need to execute the strategy.

Which is partly why it gets annoying. If they're going to resign him, do it as soon as possible, especially since 1. It saves money and 2. They could create cap space to sign someone like a WR who gets a surprise June 1 cut, and then we can use the savings to sign that player to put opposite Lamb.
