The Cowboys still do not need Dak Prescott

No, but it’s the style of win that most suits this squad. They aren’t the Chiefs either. The offense should be primarily built around the running game.

It is not the 90s, you don’t run to set up the pass anymore, you pass to set up the run. The teams that win with great RBs are ones that can also catch.

That's irrelevant. The Cowboys' formula with Rush was to lean heavily on the defense and they delivered. Looking back on those Rush games the only impressive one was the Bengals. The Commanders, Rams, and Giants are not the teams we thought they were a couple months ago.

If you want to re-live the Rush formula against a playoff team, look at the Eagles game in his final start before Dak came back. It wasn't sustainable especially since this vaunted defense is starting to disappear too often.

It’s evidently not irrelevant since you said teams do not go anywhere in the playoffs with that formula-I pointed out an example that it does work. Turning the ball over multiple times hurts the defense and makes it look worse than it actually is. San Francisco dominated the Cowboys offense this past postseason, but the Cowboys drew close by getting a turnover deep in their territory.

At least not the up and down version they get too often. The game plan should continually be run on about 2/3 of offensive plays and the playaction from under center. It is less risky than throwing and seems to augment the defense that much more. I would be okay with Ceedee Lamb being used on runs and short passing plays even more.

The recipe for winning with Rush should still be the gamelan. The gameplan that San Francisco had versus the Bucs is absolutely what this team’s winning method must be. Bludgeon the other team in the run with some playaction thrown in here and there.

There are only a handful (2-3) of QB’s that can actually dominate the passing attack to the point that the rushing game does not matter that much. Dak’s not one of them. The rushing game and defense need to be leaned on heavily for this team to win consistently.
Dak was awesome in the final drive.

I understand that and you are right, but right now the Cowboys defense isn't playing at the level they were back when Rush was playing. Teams are figuring them out. The Cowboys' best chance is to score lots of points and make other teams throw against the pass rush (which was AWOL today, but still).

100% truth

And the offense is running the ball but you can’t run on 3rd and 7 and you can’t run when you don’t have much time left
We didn’t abandon the run today
We mixed it up very well
How much we passed or ran wasn’t an issue today
Execution was
We had 3 drops and two were in the end zone
Dak wasn’t his sharpest today but he put a drive together to win the game
Style points don’t win games, points do

Losing Lewis and Brown is a bigger deal than some think.

The Eagles, 49ers, Giants, Commanders, Ravens, Titans all win by setting up the pass with strong running games and the threat of the run. That’s this team’s identity. What’s wrong with that? The league has different ways to win. Not every team can be a passing juggernaut.

Half the teams you are describing are fringe playoff fighting for a Wild Card which again shows that you are not going to be successful aka a contender running your offense around your RBs. The 49ers are built around their defense which is by far the best in the NFL and you can win with defense but the Cowboys are a few more pieces from that good of a defense. The others specifically Eagles and Ravens have the QB as the primary running threat. Dak is not that kind of runner.

The defense showed up on the last turnover drive that would have iced the game. They need to hog the ball and keep the defensive players fresh so they can fly around and attack. It’s a speedy defense, not a slug fest defense. I trust the defense more if they don’t have to be on the field a bunch, and especially not quickly put out there. Scoring really fast many times can’t be a gamelan-it’s to flash in a pan.

I would just comment that we get good dak and we get bad Dak.
The worse thing is that you never know which one is gonna show up.

Incorrect. Miles Sanders is by far the rushing leader for Philadelphia. San Francisco does not score all its points via the defense. They do it primarily by leaning heavily on the run-with occasional playaction.

Anyone who thinks the Cowboys can win going back to the offensive performances they were having with Cooper Rush at QB is completely lost! Our defense isn’t keeping teams out of the endzone the way they were earlier in the season. We need to score points to win games.

Accurate thoughts.

Our QB is simply not built for the downfield quick strike O. We came out of the gate throwing 20 yd passes and it almost cost us the game.

I think it fits Dak’s game better than a heavy passing approach. I think Dak is better than Rush. You guys think pass heavy approach is better? The stats back up my argument. This team should never abandon the run. It’s the lifeblood of the squad and benefits both sides of the ball.

We’ve had to throw more because our defense isn’t making as many stops as they were earlier in the season. We were holding the opposition to mostly FG’s. We weren’t giving up more than one TD per week. We were bending, but not breaking. However, we’re starting to break some. We’re giving up more points than we were earlier in the season. You score points in the passing game. We struggled some running the ball today.

Not sure why you aren't an OC

Not only running the ball, but implementing more chain moving passes instead of trying to get it all every play. I believe that is killing us more than anything.
