The Cowboys still do not need Dak Prescott

We’ve had to throw more because our defense isn’t making as many stops as they were earlier in the season. We were holding the opposition to mostly FG’s. We weren’t giving up more than one TD per week. We were bending, but not breaking. However, we’re starting to break some. We’re giving up more points than we were earlier in the season.

They didn’t get behind by multiple possessions. They just decided to pass more. The defense gave up a whopping 23 points when the team turned the ball over 3 times in their own territory.

What happens when a defense takes away our run?
We’re a better team when we’re not asking Dak to win games for us on his arm, unless you enjoy watching him throw multiple passes late, behind receivers, and/or into coverage. We average about 67 plays per game. 35-37 of those should be runs and the rest a lot of high percentage throws with schemed open receivers.

Our offense was starting to sputter and we weren’t real effective running the ball today. The whopping 23 points is more than we were giving up earlier in the season. We were keeping teams under 20 points. No team scored more than 17 points when Cooper Rush was 4-0. Our defense isn’t shutting teams down like they were earlier in the season..

Which is what happens when you have too many failed drives, especially 3 and outs. Gasses the D.

The offense and special teams were not turning the ball over either in those games 3 times in their own territory (except in the loss to the Eagles). If you somehow believe the turnovers today did not have everything to do with the Texans point total or the difference in the defense’s performance I’m sorry.

My point is....we know what it takes to win. You don't think defenses know lol? Its not as easy you make it sound. Once the post season comes around you need a QB. We need Dak to be consistent and make key throws. People are too caught up on stats and "per game" stats. You have to keep a defense honest.

Granted the turnovers haven’t helped but the defense still has to step up and keep teams out of the endzone. We’re also giving up more plays down the field. I’m seeing some cracks with the defense. There were a few times where the Texans were imposing their will. Not to mention we didn’t have a single sack today. That hasn’t happened all season.

No one is saying don’t throw it or put in another QB, but you can design an offense around a QBs strengths and also to take pressure off the QB.

The Texans probably struggle to score more than 10-13 points without the turnovers. And you would get to see the sacks if the Texans got way behind.

I think we both can agree the Cowboys are going to have to play much better on both sides of the ball if they’re going make waves in the playoffs. They barely escaped with a win today.
