Yes, the playing style of the two teams are very similar. The 90's were super talented because there was no salary cap.

But like I've said in other threads. Our current starters and style of play prove that Bill Parcells football can still win championship in today's NFL. The Jets and Mark Sanchez played Bill Parcells football. But the Jets messed that up when they paid their QB big bucks. All that money to one guy took away from the rest of the team.

Me personally, I love our current style of play and I wish they'd continue playing it when Dak comes back. It's how they had success in 2016. But Dak and/or the front office thinks Dak is Peyton Manning when he's not.

Excellent post. I too hope it's more like this when Dak comes back. There are more ways to score than throwing it on every down.

Just one thing on the salary cap. I didn't even know this until someone else brought it up. But that '92 and '93 team weren't even close to be the highest paid team.

DO NOT think I am saying there's any comparison between the 90s Boyz and what we're seeing now with Rush and this team. I am simply saying that the philosophy we're seeing played out on the field now is exactly what Jimmy's Cowboys rode to a lot of success.

  • Heavy dependence on a running game. Jimmy had Emmitt and Now it's Zeke AND Pollard in combination. Who gives a whit about which back is better when the fact is that in tandem they can produce big numbers. (175 yards vs. NY).
  • Cooper Rush is producing Aikman-Like numbers through the air .. no 400 yard games but rather, 235 or so and little or no turnovers.
  • An OL that's getting it done one way or another - both passing and running.
  • A defense that is capable of tearing the head off opposing QBs and stiff vs. the run.
Again, for you slow ones out there, I AM NOT SAYING THIS IS A TEAM IN THE SAME UNIVERSE as Jimmy's teams but, the philosophy is being played out the same.

All the above leads to BALANCE and that's very hard for opponents to game-plan for.

.. and I hope it continues.
I agree its a similar approach as the 90's team. All three units working together during a game. Let's see the same type of play calling for Dak as well. They have to protect Dak from himself. Keep the gamelan about running and play action passing.

I see what you're saying. Very similar in the philosophy. If our 2014 team had this defense, they win a SB, maybe 2. Our all around offensive talent is what worries me now. Even though they are getting the job done. Hopefully they keep this going even when we get some players back.

Great post. They're trying to make Dak a quarterback he is not. Dak is not a slinger and this is ok!!! Like i said before, Manning, Mahomes, Rodgers, Brady, guys like this are elite and Dak is not elite, never have been or maybe never will be.....

But being elite doesn't mean you will win championships and history has shown that.

We have what's looking like a special team this year. If Dak plays within himself and the things he's done best that even put him in some historical stats earlier in his career, we can win a championship with him. Honestly.... i don't want to jump the gun, but Rush is looking like we can win a championship with him leading us.

Im not trying to get to ahead of myself but Rush has a special quality about him that isn't regular, it doesn't make sense, but its just their. I actually trust Rush and his chemistry with the offense, the way the defense is playing, lil things. What really did it for me was his calmness in the midst of a BARRAGE of blitzing he faced against the Giants and made it look like 7 on 7 drills....

I respect Dak as our starter but for right now.... it Rush Hour.

You hit the proverbial nail squarely on the head. I believe the calm demeanor Rush shows regardless of the situation is contagious. It seems as though the guys are picking up on this and as a result, their overall team play has been (thus far), elevated.
