The curse of Joe Buck

I don't think it's a curse, I just think they always call the game whenever we have big games, and we usually lose those.

It's a shame Fox employs Joe Buck.

Or Troy Aikman. I just hate listening to him talk. Someone else said it best. I love Troy Aikman the football player, but Troy Acheman the announcer.

:puke:

interesting that this is a joe buck curse but not an aikman curse.
:laugh2:

I really hope people don't look at this like it amounts to anything.

We went on our winning streak this year when Joe Buck was away announcing baseball playoffs and Aikman was paired with that other guy. That pretty much negated any possibility of it being an Aikman curse.

According to Star Mag, the Cowboys are 1-3 in games announced by Joe Buck, 9-2 in all other games. We must end this curse tomorrow!!!

(Before anybody gets upset, this is just humor. I don't really believe in curses).

we played better teams when buck was calling.

I find Buck and Aikman very annoying. I don't like Buck's play-by-play and I find Aikman's analysis only focused on the big plays and then only on the "skill" position players. That is not good enough to explain success and failure in the NFL. The Playbook crew does a MUCH better job of explaining good play and poor play and that kind of work is something NFL analysts should strive to emulate. I think Buck and Aikman insult the fans by their "lite" approach to game commentary filled with empty opinion. These days, I usually end up turing down the sound on them and I don't do that with other announcers.

Simply put, Buck and Aikman are not as good as other Fox teams and are not as good as the CBS and NBC teams that announce games. I'll even include the ESPN crew in this although their style often appraches empty as well. Try this experiment today. Experts all week have been talking about the QBs and the pass rush. Listen for how many times Aikman discusses the pass rush and tells you the number of players on either the Eagles or the Cowboys that rush the passer. You'll be able to count the number of occurrences on one hand.

During preseason I experimented with watching the TV feed and listening to the radio feeds over the internet and Sirius. The delays are different enough that the experience was not good. I'd much rather hear Sham and Laufenberg along with watching the game but I haven't figured out how to do that and make it work (you would almost think things might be set up that way intentionally ;) )

I agree. Buck, Aikman, and Collinsworth are just plain awful. I find myself muting the TV and listening to the radio most of the time when they call games.

But...................I was told I HAD to like Aikman as an analyst because he won 3 rings?

Shouldn't you peeps be more concerned about the refs? Lets talk a little about how awful the refs are.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner!!!!!

Buck and Aikman are the #1 broadcast team on Fox. That means they usually broadcast the weekend's top NFC matchup. So when they are doing one of our games, usually this means we are playing one of the big dogs like the Packers, Eagles, Giants, ect....

Unfortunately we usually lose those games.

Now when another broadcast team is doing our games, it means we are usually playing a lessor opponent and we almost always win those games.

So there is no curse fellas, it is simply the fact that when we play better quality opponents, we lose more often than not. However, when we play teams below our talent level, we usually always win those games. Hence, there is the difference between our record with Aikman and Buck and without.

Posted the same thing a few weeks ago, as have a few other sane individuals who simply have no time for individuals who believe in this utterly specious backwards mysticism.

I can't stand that pompous little dweeb...

He reminds me of Niles on Frasier...

Oh please,Joe Buck makes Niles look like Mark Colombo.

Hopefully interactive television options in the future will allow us to selectively mute certain audio feeds during the game. I would happily mute the broadcast crew for just about every game.
