Which is great, if the offense can actually do something with them.

The G-men turned it over six times, and it still came down to the fourth quarter to win. The Lions turned it over four times, we surrendered over 600 yards, and we lost.

The offense is utterly pathetic.

The team is utterly pathetic, its not one side or the other, its both. They cant run, they cant stop the pass. And yet JG gets a pass every year

Forcing twice the turnovers as last year (19 through 8 games vs 16? all of 2012 season) yet still batting .500. We have lost to a couple good teams but I was hoping to get the same Romo-Dez combo that was on fire end of last season but we are afraid to throw him the ball.

Houston is ranked 1st under Wade
New Orleans is ranked 7th under Rob

Which tells you what? Its the players?

I think its been argued enough that Dallas has to address the d-line. I can't help but be enovious of the talent the Lions have on their d-line.

Shouldn't utterly pathetic be used for a defense on a pace for all time worst in passing?

Yes, but winning the turnover battle is something that did not happen last year. Solution: get rid of Rob and bring in someone who could do that.

So, we've done that. But what hasn't changed is the offense is still pathetic. The offensive line is upgraded and we still only had 88 yards passing partially through the third quarter with 10 points on the board against one of the worst defenses in the league (obviously, ours is the worst). There's only so much a defense can do until it gets tired. Preventing scores is more important than preventing yardage. The only real aberration has been the Denver game.

Where are we in PP4th QUarter?

I still want to know the stats (league wide) on TDs given up in the 4th quarter on drives following your offense scoring a TD.

So where do the cowboys rank in TDs given up immediately after our Offense scored a TD. Hell, even FGs. We seem to give up TDs after scoring TDs in the 4th quarter way too often.

I said this when Ryan was here and I'll say it again now.

You can't trot a D out there over and over, quarter after quarter and expect them to hold up for 4 quarters if your offense is sputtering and not taking time off the clock. Last season we had so many games where the D kept us in it while the offense failed and then when we went hurry up and started scoring, the D was gassed. Same with yesterday. You have to watch the games. The offense had 96 yards TOTAL at half. Through 3 quarters we had 4 takeaways, 3 when they were in our territory, and we only led by one score. Then the offense cranks up and the D is gassed after holding a top offense all game.

I thought investing money in the secondary would had solve the problem. Apparently not.

Good point. The defense appears to relax after the offense scores. It happens way too often.

They were asked to prevent an 80 yard, 1 minute TD drive, with the opposing team being out of timeouts. You have to hold in that situation.

the usual defenders of the secondary are missing today for some inexplicable reason

they are busily going through the details of the game to find the one stat that points to CBs being the most important position on defense

I'm not saying there weren't mistakes there. My point was, you can't just blame the D and bail out the offense after they were putrid for 3 quarters. That isn't how football works..in a vacuum. They did their job and forced turnovers while the offense found its legs and was abysmal.

Yards allowed is still very important -- if the opposing team is rolling up the yards they are typically controlling the clock and preventing your offense from getting many opportunities.

Or your offense goes 3 and out a lot.

There were two occasions during the 4th qtr where we had a two possession lead and this defense let the Lions go right down the field in hardly any time at all and score a touchdown. How many times has this defense given up points when it has mattered the most or gotten a stop when they needed it most on a consistent basis?

The bottomline is that you can throw any stat out that you want, good or bad. I've watched every snap they have taken and the defense is absolutely awful. They got owned by the Giants at home, the Chargers absolutely embarrassed them and the Lions just put up 600 yards on them. It's embarrassing.

As mentioned, Kiffin couldn't stop anybody in college. Why would anyone think he could come back to the NFL and how the game is now and stop anybody. It was yet another mistake to bring him here. He can't scheme, he can't make in game adjustments and he can't stop anybody, unless it's the Rams and we all know how big of a juggernaut of an offense that team has.
