The defense played well, so if Dak has even a decent game do we win?

Anyone who watched this game can tell you this answer to this question.

Dak picked a bad game to have a very bad game. The organization likes to call it "aggressiveness" but he was absolutely stupid under center. Like, I still can't believe how badly he played in those circumstances with the defense and special teams making plays.

If we all locked our doors in our bedrooms alone, and went into the closet where we were even more private, I think we would admit that the offensive line broke down all over the place. He should still make those throws, maybe some QBs do or don't, the point being, we have to have a counter next time. And that counter would be speed coming from the backfield, and speed coming from WR, and when that WR speed takes over, then CeeDee and Gallup can eat up the interior, including Ferguson. Speed changes everything.

Let’s say one less pick and another TD?
If he had hit Lamb in stride on the deep bomb instead of Lamb having to come back to make a more difficult catch, we probably score on that play. A little bit later he also had Gallup on a deep throw and threw it behind him. So I think the answer is yes, even without taking a pick away.

Defense blew several big plays that could have turned the game around.

The offensive line definitely had its struggles against a very good defense. That's one reason I think it's stupid to throw all the blame on one player. But Dak definitely has to make some of those throws he had when the line held up. Maybe he was feeling phantom pressure, but as the QB, he's paid to shake off the real pressure and make plays when he's given the opportunity.

I agree, however, that 9ers defense is no joke, and after Pollard was gone, there went our secret weapon to beating San Fran. It's like our franchise is actually cursed. 27 years worth. Something always goes wrong. Think Romo bobbling the snap, how often does that happen?

We may have had a chance to win anyway if Maher hadn’t scared Mike from kicking a FG until it was desperation time and he had no choice. I’ll also never understand why we punted on 4th and 5 from the SF 40 with the game tied in the second half. Kick a 57 yard FG or go for it. Dak didn’t play poorly for the most part if you believe what others who watched the film and broke it down say, but he definitely cost us with the two INTs.
