The defense stunk it up thread

Seems as if the DE were set straight up on the OT's, which allowed McCoy to give a little fake inside and everytime the OT could hook the DE inside, and at the same time the LB, who is supposed to be protected behind the DE also bit allowing the TE to get to him, from there it was a footrace which McCoy wins against the FS for good yardage down the sideline. Seems the De should be outside at least funneling McCoy into RoMac sphere of Influence better, and letting the OLB be able to go either in or out..........Hope to take another look at it on NFL rewind tonight
. It would help if Lee could come back and stay healthy.

Yeah, but that's a big IF.
I wouldn't count on it, but they have several possibilities to improve from within and that starts with Lee.

They still need to add a couple of free agents or get lucky in the draft.

........seems as if Lee was the "anti-McCoy", his combination of speed and recognition seemed a better match than RoMacs

I would be terrific to see Lee stay healthy AND to re-sign RoMc.

They still need the DL to do a better job of keeping the blockers off of the LBs. I'm ready to see what Josh Brent can do. They really need a better 1-tech DT that can consistently draw double teams. Hayden rarely draws a double team and if he does he gets blown out. When the 1-tech doesn't draw a double team and doesn't have success against single blocking, this defensive scheme is in trouble.

Wait, what about Terrell McClain?

Yes, the LBs and the DEs have to been in sync. If the DE is not going to set the edge, then the LB has to be sure to not get pinned inside. They've had a problem with this a few times this year.

agree, because then McCoys head fake inside the Tackle has to be respected, because either the C or the G has gotten to RoMac as Hayden has been handled one on one.........everything is warped

I'm not normally in favor of just cutting players, but I wouldn't complain if they cut Carter. If they're going to have bad play from that spot if might as well come from young player like Keith Smith or whoever is the replacement for Carter. He's the only player on this team that seems to be a quitter.

Would we still get a compensatory pick if we cut him?

If not, I'd be in favor of just deactivating him. He's a former second round pick who is all but certain to leave via free agency. I'd much rather hold on to him for the final four games and get a draft pick in return.

No, but the comp picks are based on the contract that they departing player signs. You only get a significant comp pick if he signs a big contract which is highly doubtful. Also, if the Cowboys sign any significant free agents then that offsets the comp picks anyway.

I don't blame the players as much as I blame the scheme and playing not to lose.

Maybe, but Marinelli is not just fighting with a dull sword, he is fighting with a dull butter knife, and doing an excellent job I would say considering he is doing it with less talent than last seasons D. What we have seen so far this season from the D has mostly been smoke and mirrors, they just don't have the talent to be dominant in most situations, especially against an offense like Philly's.

The key yesterday was for the offense to ground it out and keep the Philly O off the field as much as possible. When that failed the D was pretty helpless. I figure Marinelli's D will fare a little better in a couple of weeks when they meet again. He'll have time to come up with a new wrinkle that might help. Hopefully in the off season Dallas will sell out on D in the draft and free agency, and get Marinelli some help.
