This is exactly what happened. Eventually, hussle only takes you so far. And if you're not getting help from the other side of the ball, it won't be long until you tire.

McClain, in particular, looked slow all night.

Lots of missed tackles from our secondary as well. Church was terrible.

The defense really needs the bye week, IMO.

Yeah, JJ Watt is out there half assing it half of the time. Way too talented to hustle...

Stop it with your silly stories clown. If you are going to make up stories, at least make it believable.

I wasn't the only one who called you out on Romo getting injured excuse.
You made a dumb comment and people call you out on it and now you are just trolling to cover up your stupidity.

Hardly, sugar pips. I was joking earlier about taking out my crayons and sketching you a portrait of why what you said was wrong in every conceivable manner possible but now I see you would rather die getting the last word then try an learn something. Kudos for trying to turn my argument against me, it will never work but rifling through your options and never saying die is the most admirable quality of all martyrs. Somewhere someone is saluting you.

You like cars? Sure ya do, all guys like the vroom vrooms. Say you go to a sports car dealership and buy the top of the line motor, it has it all, turbo charged, ludicrous size spoilers, fat air filters, cold air intake, weight reduction, the whole nine yards. Taking it out for a spin you notice the fuel getting low and pull in to a garage to fill her up. Surveying the pumps, you carefully eyeball all the high performance options, deciding you open the cap, let your trousers fall to the floor and drop a deuce in the tank. Closing back up the lid you climb back in and haul A. Noticing a steep decline in engine production you pull back into the dealership and say the car is not performing to the elite levels as promised. The dealer replies "sir, you can't expect optimum performance if you put the number 2 in".

Blink twice if this makes sense.

The end result didn't look that bad for the defense -- 17 regulation points surrendered. As many have said, that should be a winnable effort.

However, the most concerning part was all of the points Washington left on the field. The first bomb to DeSean Jackson is a touchdown pass with an adequate throw. Colt severely under threw him, to the point where the defender got back in the play and almost had an opportunity to break up the pass. It cost them points. The Commanders mismanaged the end of regulation and knocked themselves out of field-goal range with penalties and other gaffes. And then you have that early INT Colt threw in the red zone.

That doesn't even address the missed tackles.

It was a forgettable defensive effort, for sure.

That INT was nothing short of incredible on Wilcoxs' behalf, IMO.

And it was the end zone. Just sayin'. ;)

Once again you missed the point.

LOL defense wasnt bad and wasnt the reason Dallas lost.

6 of 10 washington drives ended in punt or TO
4 of them drives failed to get 25 yrds

7 of 11 Dallas drives ended in punt TO or downs
4 drives ended in less than 10 yrds
6 drives ended in less than 25 yrds

Dallas defense kept this team in the game all game long.

This^^

The Defense didn't play their best game, missed tackles, etc. but at the end of the day they held the other team to 17 points at the end of regulation. This offense is expected to score more than 17 points.

Period.

As won of the defense's biggest critiques (at the start of the year), I find it odd that through 8 games we were OK with this overachiefing defense and now that they held a team to 20 points (not shabby considering the talent level) we rush to judgment and to criticize.

This defense half exceeded all my expectorations. They half bent but not break.

Maybe if the offense half scored 21 points we would not be heaping criticizms on this defense that largely plays on emotion and pride.

Yep. The defense did what everyone always complains about too - they made huge stops in key situations. Scandrick's pass defense, Melton's sack to push them out of FG range. All huge plays at key times.

The offense just pooped the bed. It happens. We're 6-2. Clean up the mistakes on film and get ready to punch Arizona in the face.

Defense only surrendered 17 points in regulation. Anyone here would've take that outcome prior to the game,

As I said before the seson started, the offense will need to score 30 points ever game because the defense was expected to be so horrible. They allowed 20 points in total on Monday. I dont no about the others but I am impressed by this bend but not break defense.
If anything we should be praising what they half done and what Coach Marinade half done.

Well said indeed sir. The offense must be on par for at least 30 points a game. Dallas offense needs to play at the level they did when the Cowboys played Denver last year.

Yeah but there was clean spot left on the sheets. The coach pooped on that spot.

Well when your HC makes a point to say the tackling was horrible that's a pretty good indication your defense had a bad game,

Not sure if it's easier to keep posting the insults in the thread, or to just PM me or ABQ if you're looking for a little vacation from your posting privileges, but either will work, really.

Let's try to be the best possible Zoners today, guys. Nobody wants to read two pages of two posters calling each other names and each saying the other guy can't read. That stuff can all happen over PM if either of you feel it really needs to be said. The rest of us can just take it as understood that you don't like each other all that much right now and are working out some of the challenges to your mutual friendship.

Our defense wasn't terrible. Yeah, my buddies heard me sigh and say "Rolando.." a few times at his impersonation of tackling. Church wasn't great either. I really don't want to hate on Bruce, and someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but it looked like he had a couple blown assignments for first downs. Was it him that was supposed to cover the FB in the flat? I believe I saw him and Spencer both crash inside a few times when they were supposed to have outside contain which was pretty bad. This is from one viewing on TV though, so I could be wrong.

Jordan Reed had a couple of spectacular catches. We could have been better but I didn't think we played bad at all. Besides our offense kept crapping the bed so Washington got to run their full playbook. If we hadn't turned the ball over and built up a sizable lead, they'd have been one dimensional and our defense probably would have overachieved again.

Our pass rush does suck though. Wilcox looked pretty good though. Surprised they didn't use more corner blitzes. I think Marinelli thought McCoy would just be throwing the ball up because it look like he used more zone, probably hoping for TO's.

McCoy also played the game of his life being a TX kid, and starting against his favorite team growing up. Whatever.

Tackling was awful... defense wasn't all that great, but they made the game winnable. This game isn't on them, especially when all the talent is on the offensive side of the ball. I truly hope we retain Marinelli and spend the next few years focused on the defense side of the ball.
