Defense was in position to make stops tonight, but tackling was the worst it's been all season.
This D was as good as can be expected considering the personnel they have on the field and how inept the offense was. Not sure what people expect. Doomsday defense?
Most of us expected some 3rd down stops and the ability to stifle a 3rd string QB. Missed tackles, blown coverages and easy 3rd down conversions doomed the effort.
Sure, the offensive turnovers and failure to stick with the running game surely had an impact on this defensive effort but I was pretty displeased with the inability of the defense to make plays when they needed them the most!
But.. we have a bunch of 3rd string-caliber defenders out there. It's not like this is some star-studded defense. A lot of the guys we are trotting out there on D, it could be argued, are the defensive equivalent of say.. a Colt McCoy.
True but they were previously playing at a much higher level, perhaps it shows us what they look like when the offense is not playing well.
Team wont win a playoff game with this D and now Romo is a mess, year done
D just looked different tonight. Slow. Poor tackling. Other than OScan not contesting passes.
You want to use Romo as an excuse for the offense. If so, why did this elite offense only scored 7 points when Romo was in the game? I'm still waiting Einstein.
I don't understand why Marinelli knew he was going up against a blazing fast Jackson, yet still has the guy in one on one situations with a corner not nearly as fast. It's like they said, I know you can run fast but we've been getting by with smoke and mirrors so we'll stick to that. The end result didn't look that bad for the defense -- 17 regulation points surrendered. As many have said, that should be a winnable effort.
However, the most concerning part was all of the points Washington left on the field. The first bomb to DeSean Jackson is a touchdown pass with an adequate throw. Colt severely under threw him, to the point where the defender got back in the play and almost had an opportunity to break up the pass. It cost them points. The Commanders mismanaged the end of regulation and knocked themselves out of field-goal range with penalties and other gaffes. And then you have that early INT Colt threw in the red zone.
That doesn't even address the missed tackles.
It was a forgettable defensive effort, for sure.
Because of two turnovers and then a back injury. Is that really hard to understand?. If they are not elite then why are they smashing Jim Brown's record?
Slurs defense played well tonight and kicked the snow out of Tony, adjustments should have been made to combat the blitz and the ball should have been run in OT. All that just doesn't make OT one of the better offenses in the league.
I asked why did this offense only score 7 points when Romo was in the game. He was not in the game when he had the back injury. And who is to blame for the fumbles? The defense?
Now it's definitely clear you don't know how to read.
Whether the defense was good or bad, the offense was the last with the ball. What did the do exactly?
As I said, the offense was terrible. Defense matched them.
Can we all finally admit Church is nothing more than a try-hard guy?
The whole team sucked tonight, no bright light here.
