We trade Romo, our #18, our 3rd this year to the Saints for:

Their #2 this year.

We then have our choice of Leinart or Young (future QB to groom under Bledsoe) or we trade down 2 spots and recoup our lost 3rd and possibly our 4th and still get Ferguson or A.J. Hawk...

What do you think?

I would have to look at a draft chart, but I am fairly certain that it would take a lot more to move up to the #2 spot.

Yeah, it would take a whole lot more than that unless Payton is trying to wreck the Saints.

OK, then let's assume it takes our 1st and 2nd to move up that high...I'd still do it and we could trade down and pick it back up and still get the best LB (Hawk) or the best OL (Ferguson)...

why would any team make that trade when they need a "franchise" quarterback? Payton may like Romo, but he is not the splash he needs like Young or Leinart. They need to sell tickets.

I think you hit the bong hard.......There is no way the Saints do this. It would go done as the worst trade in NFL history.

Worse than the Walker trade even.

That trade is nowhere equal in value, we would have to add more depending on how much Romo is valued at.

I'm not really excited about the QB's coming out this draft either.

Amazing one week Romo is garbage, the next week, we're able to trade him and a couple draft picks for the #2 spot in the draft.

Infatuation or not, no way is Payton gonna give up a blue chipper in either Young or Leinart for Romo. It's called upside. And Young and Leinart would have considerably more than Romo.

I think it's safe to say New orleans would have to be blown away to move out of that #2 spot.

Tell me the truth, does that offer blow you away? I'm betting the answer is no.

Me neither.....Cutler seems to be the best value. If he goes in the 15-25 range.

I am pretty sure Romo, our #18 pick, and our 3rd Round pick would not even get us the shoes Vince Young wore in the Rose Bowl.

No way is that enough to move that high. Broncos have 2 first rounders but they are pretty low; Pats also have 2 first rounders which might be interesting to NO if Pats willing throw in a player who seriously upgrades position needed by NO.

I agree, going off of past history involving trades like this.....

after Ditka trades away EVERY PICK for that #5 spot in 1999 and how marvelously well that trade worked out with Ricky W., do you really think they will want to repeat history with a trade like that???

In all likelihood, Payton wants to groom a QB with their selection in April... a QB with pedigree... by trading that choice away, he's stuck with nothing to work for. Aaron Brooks will most likely be a backup elsewhere.

The only way this trade makes any sense for the Saints is if they a trying to implode the team so they can move to San Antonio.
