theebs, I wasn't saying there are no concerns at all, and I wasn't talking about rational posts likes yours. We all have concerns of one kind or another. I was talking about the "OMG, if Jerry doesn't get a 3rd WR right now our season is over!" post... Or the ones that act like we're on the verge of collapse.

I get what you're saying on Jerry always saying everything is the best he's ever seen it, and I agree that I don't like it... But I don't get it from the coaching staff. What makes you think they all do that? Stewart and Garrett, just to name two, certainly didn't look like that on Hard Knocks.

And did Baldinger give any examples? Or was he just talking our of his rear end?

Yea I know. I understood ya.

He was talking out of his rear. They all do. The thing is with him I actually respect his opinion. The guy doesnt do anything but watch tape and visit practice facilities and scout teams for his job. I know many hate him. I really love his opinions.

Last year he was really high on our team. In contrast last year he said there were problems all over on the Commanders staff and it would show as the season went on and said they were an 8-8 team because joe gibbs had no idea how to run an offense in this era of football. Those were bold statements and basically he almost nailed it. He also called out the eagles last year of the lack of wr and inability to fix that spot.

Like I said, in spite of what he said about the worries of the staff he said we should win the division and conference because of the talent and He absolutely loves romo. He just cant say enough about him.

In an interesting note, he called falcons preseason games and said he believes in that division they will win possibly 8 games. He said the league doesnt have many good qbs but matt ryan is one. Apparently he thinks he really gets the game and the league and expects high amounts of success for him and the team. INteresting none the less!

oh and he didnt think the giants would make the playoffs. He had Dallas, Philly, GB, Minnesota, new Orleans and seattle. the other guy that was on Bob Glauber I think was his name, started laughing saying the giants are not good enough to win the division or a wild card, baldinger said flatly NO. Glauber said he was going to go into the giants locker room and tell them that!! Baldinger laughed and said good that is what they rely on!!!

Well if he liked our team last year, I don't see why he would suddenly not like it because of the coaching staff. It's not like it's changed much.

And I'll bet him any amount he wants if he thinks ATL will win eight games, especially if he thinks it's due to Matt Ryan. That's insane talk.

he picked us to go to the super bowl. He said the thing that could hold us back is our coaching staff...in his opinion he doesnt like it. he talked at length how every team is talented, the difference is how it is coordinated and applied.

He thinks jim johnson could end up being the most important person in the nfc east.

The coaching staff has changed. Guys like maxi, grantham, herring and campo were not here last year.

personally I dont know how good any of them are. I cant imagine he meant houck though.

If you were an outsider and you looked at this staff I can see why red flags would go up all over.

About 50% of the desperation comes from 5-7 posters. If they would somehow calm down we'd immediately drop from category 4 to category 2 levels of desperation.
Yea lets get rid of the 5-7 posters who are not blind homers, who think everything is fine. just have people on the board who all agree with eachother that everything is great.this team is far from great. and those 13 wins were great. but it ment nothing when once again we could not win a playoff game. you homers need to wake up!

There are a couple of things people are right to be concerned about:

1. The WR situation, what happens if TO goes down?
2. The zone softness of the secondary. Are we consistently going to play 15 yards of the WR in the regular season?
3. The special teams coverage and return units.

However, it is probably overkill to freak out about the last 2 things until the regular season gets started and we see what happens. I do think though that we should be doing more to shore up the WR position. We can't replace TO if he goes down, but there has to be other options than relying on Jefferson or Amendola.

This is typical bs.

There are plenty of posters stating valid concerns about their team. Just because they can post sane posts which do not 'proclaim' that the season is lost before it has even begun doesn't make them 'blind homers'. Geez...

I am curious. Did you just call norm hitzges? Someone just called norm complaining about our team and saying we need to sign chris henry and soon.

He was a smart guy I tell ya.

Seriously? You think there'd be red flags because of the position coaches we lost? You think the guys we lost are that much worse than what we added?

I don't think they're any worse. The only possibly outstanding one we lost was Sparano, and we replaced him with Houck. And I think Grantham is an improvement.

and do what? how would being angry at the team, as a fan, help anymore than pretending hatred is some form of keeping it real?

I liked bowles and pasqualoni personally.

I think the red flags are because wade has never won anything and garrett abandoned the run, for whatever reason in the second half of that game. I think that is where they will be questioned. Throw in a bunch of new coaches and it brings up red flags to me.

Hey like I said, to an outsider you can raise some issues.

Chocolate Lab already covered this. There's a distinction between legitimate concerns (every team has them, including this one) and irrationality/desperation. Your post is a fine example. No one suggested getting rid of any posters, that everyone on this board should hold hands, or that blind homerism is our breathless ideal. Hyperbole is the harbinger of desperation.
