The Cowboys have been a constant penalty machine this season. The refs are stacking their trousers with flags for upcoming games. The Commish has total control of whom gets to the SB.
Didn't the Eagles experience some pretty soft defensive penalties last night? Soft PI on Slay, even softer holding a few plays later on 3rd down, soft roughing call on Cox on the last drive by the Chiefs?

Sure, we have committed a lot of penalties, but I'm pretty sure we will be in the playoffs at the very least. I think we likely get the 5th seed. Plus, who knows how the season finishes. Maybe we can catch Philly. And if he does have that kind of control, then why don't 30 fanbase just give up?
We have tough games against Philly, Detroit, Buffalo and Miami in their stadium I see more losses in our future. If the Commancheros DL kill Dak this Thursday, I see no more wins this season.

Yes, I'm aware that those are tough games, but we are a tough team too.

It's not being a defeatist, it's being a realist when you look at the schedules, etc.

Even if we and the 49ers beat the Eagles, we'd still have to win out, which seems how likely?

If you want some glimmer of hope to hold onto here, pray the Bills can figure out how to win in Philly next weekend.
Defeatist = no chance
Realist = There's still a chance, albeit slim, but there is a chance

Some people would rather hold on to hope than give up, it's the NFL, improbable things happen every week.

Exactly, and I'm in that realist/hopeful camp. We have a chance to do great things still this year. Let's not forget, the Eagles lost to the Jets. If that doesn't say anything can happen, I don't know what does.

Uh, Dak played pretty well on the road in Philly.

Exactly, a few bounces differently, and I think it's a completely different discussion. As it stands now, I think we still have a chance to win the division. If not, we probably make the playoffs anyway. At that point, who knows what can happen?

The division is not lost yet. I know it looks bleak, but I don't think the division is settled yet. The Eagles still have to play SFO and us (along with Seattle prior to us). If they lose both games to us and SFO, then I think we can still win the division if we are level with them on record. They'd be level with us on conference and division losses in that situation. It'd go down to some very deep tiebreakers, but, assuming we win all of our remaining games, and they lose two of the next three games (including against us), then I think the division is still possible for us to win. Will it be easy? No. But is it possible? Yes
It's also possible to win the lottery, if you buy a ticket.. :muttley: same probability too..

So what? Should I give up all hope and stop watching this season? I'm not doing that. I still have hope we can at the very least make the playoffs, and maybe can even steal the division. Plus, I don't think the Eagles want to play us in the playoffs.

I think we are very likely making the playoffs. It'd take a Jason Garrett-level collapse to prevent us from making the playoffs.
Right, Dallas currently is tied with SF for the 4th best record. If the playoffs occurred this week, the 8th place team, the Saints, are 3 games behind Dallas with 7 to play. That's hard to make up for the Saints.

So yeah, Dallas is likely to make the playoffs, though the Saints do have a pretty easy schedule the rest of the way, with Atlanta twice, Panthers, Bucs and Giants remaining. Have to play the Lions, though.

Anything can happen, but Dallas not making the playoffs would be surprising...

Actually, Philly has a pretty hard remaining schedule. The team I think has the best shot at the No 1 seed is Detroit. They have an extremely easy schedule and has a team that could give the Cowboys fits even in Dallas.
Currently the combined winning percentage of the Cowboys remaining opponents is .602, the Lions .493, the Eagles .459. Philly and Dallas have 4 home games remaining, Detroit has three. Philly plays three teams with losing records, Dallas and Detroit, two. If Detroit ends up the no. 1 seed in the NFC it won’t be because of their “extremely easy schedule”. The Eagles have an easier schedule from here on out than Detroit.

Not only that, but if the season ended now, we would be playing the Saints. I think we win that one.

Oh I get it, good quarterbacks can always avoid a sack, right?

Yeah, right....

I thought I saw Mahomes take some sacks last night too, along with Hurts. I know it is kinda hard to see over my long muzzle, but I thought I saw them take sacks. In fact, didn't Mahomes take an intentional grounding to set up the 4th and 25? Wow, what a bum he is.
