I call this time in the NFL off-season calendar “The Doldrums”. Post draft and free agency, post OTAs and mini-camps but before training camp and pre-season games. It’s the most boring time of the NFL calendar.

And what makes “The Doldrums” period worse IMO is the avalanche of click bait fluff pieces by the margins of NFL media types.

Every draft pick, trade candidate, recovering injured player and new head coach is spoken of in extremes. They are either guaranteed HOFers, ahead of schedule in recovery, or the other extreme, “they all suck.” And most of the “writers” making this stuff know, if their story is on the edge of extreme, fans will click.

We can survive “The Doldrums”! Because we are all hungry for football we are vulnerable for some bad media. So the key to survival - for me anyway - is to patiently wait for September before declaring any player or coach or team a guaranteed anything.

We are 73 days away from REAL football. We can survive “The Doldrums”! In the meantime, beware of click bait, lol!

The funny thing about this time of year with all the predictions, speculation, etc, is none of us know much about the 2025 Cowboys.

At this point, we know so little about what this team, this new HC, and our draft picks are going to be, speculation rules. And when there are no regular season tests anytime soon, it’s all speculation.

Honestly I don’t even like TC or PS games because they too contain a lot of dreams and speculation. When an UFA makes a big play in a preseason game against a group of scrubs from the other team who will never play a down of regular season football, he’s anointed.

Then the real bullets start to fly in September and the truth is revealed.

So much truth, Bob. Then the season begins and reality smacks us in the face.

This is usually prime time for Dallas media paid by the FO to start churning out puff pieces faster than Lizzos career ended.

And our fans lap it up like German shepherds after a long run.

I think 10 wins is possible….
You also think Dez and Mingo are the same player.

Stop saying this. It isn’t.

Sorry it is. However the only way this happens is with the injury bug not hitting the cowboys, and the injury bug hitting all of our opponents.

Only chance this team has at double digits.

They still can’t stop the run, and they are playing 10 teams that were playoff teams last year. What’s their record against those teams in say the last decade?

And put the puff pieces for "Schotty" at the top. I'm not saying he hasn't made an impression...but again...their original plan was to stick with McCarthy...so how impressive could he have been sitting there all this time on the team?

And do you think anyone was praising the culture in NE when Belichick took over? I bet players were somewhere between pissed and pleased...but the results speak for themselves. Players saying nice things about the new coach is par for the course.

Yep. Front office and players go on the last vacation before training camp.

How do you know they can’t stop the run? You don’t. You’re taking the pessimistic view on every single aspect. Horrible way to be IMO.
