The Doldrums

This is Jerrys time of the year,

he'll wait another week or so everybody would be bored out of their mind start to forget about football, start to take their eyes away, and then bam!! signs Parsons, which the contract's been sitting there this whole time everyone's agreed on basic terms, they just haven't made it official...

They will find the right moment to be the talk of the town and that's why they've been putting this on hold..... Waiting for the spotlight... Most likely after the NBA final and draft is over which Flagg will be big news so after that,

its soon... watch, im calling it..

I call this time in the NFL off-season calendar “The Doldrums”. Post draft and free agency, post OTAs and mini-camps but before training camp and pre-season games. It’s the most boring time of the NFL calendar.

And what makes “The Doldrums” period worse IMO is the avalanche of click bait fluff pieces by the margins of NFL media types.

Every draft pick, trade candidate, recovering injured player and new head coach is spoken of in extremes. They are either guaranteed HOFers, ahead of schedule in recovery, or the other extreme, “they all suck.” And most of the “writers” making this stuff know, if their story is on the edge of extreme, fans will click.

We can survive “The Doldrums”! Because we are all hungry for football we are vulnerable for some bad media. So the key to survival - for me anyway - is to patiently wait for September before declaring any player or coach or team a guaranteed anything.

We are 73 days away from REAL football. We can survive “The Doldrums”! In the meantime, beware of click bait, lol!
:flagwave:
Starting the nfl in the 3rd week of Sept is an eternity to wait for and I wish they started first week of Sept.

As soon as the NBA and NHL playoffs end, it is unquestionably the worst part of the year until real NFL games begin.

PDD. Post Draft Depression.

I get it every year and not because I'm waiting for the season to start but the realization that the next draft is a year away.

The funny thing about this time of year with all the predictions, speculation, etc, is none of us know much about the 2025 Cowboys.

At this point, we know so little about what this team, this new HC, and our draft picks are going to be, speculation rules. And when there are no regular season tests anytime soon, it’s all speculation.

Honestly I don’t even like TC or PS games because they too contain a lot of dreams and speculation. When an UFA makes a big play in a preseason game against a group of scrubs from the other team who will never play a down of regular season football, he’s anointed.

Then the real bullets start to fly in September and the truth is revealed.
Yes sir, Reality Doesn’t Begin Until After Labor Day.

No doubt this is a down time unless you’re a MLB fan. Not much happening until football season.

I actually enjoy a little down time . Good time to travel and or get some things done around the house. Colorado and mountains great during heat of summer.

Those sound like great things to do for down time.

I am not sure I can survive until Sept. What we need is an annulment to the constitution that mandates year-round Pro Football.
Then I would be happy and ****.

Then again, wouldn't this be the time of the year where fans from all 32 teams would have the most hope?

Nothing can happen this month or so that would shatter our fantasy. There's no actual game results, no proof, to counter our delusions.

Jayden Blue is the next Tony Dorsett.

Lamb and Pickens are the 2nd coming of "Bambi" and "Bullet Bob."

Ezeiruaku gives us bookend Micahs.

Diggs and Overshown are both going to come back strong.

No injuries this season, no siree!

Mazi and Guyton have their breakouts.

Schottenheimer is hailed as the next offensive genius.

Our free agent, former #1 draft busts redefine their entire careers.

Dak produces his signature games in the playoffs.

They go undefeated!

Luke Schoonmaker, SB MVP!

Halftime show, PINK FLOYD!

We have over a month before being confronted by the brutal realities presented in training camp, preseason games and opening day against the Eagles.

How do you know they can’t stop the run? You don’t. You’re taking the pessimistic view on every single aspect. Horrible way to be IMO.
...but, but, but there is still a 30 year calendar of gloom. :muttley:
