The Dolphins are releasing veteran edge Bradley Chubb

Unless you have reason to believe Chubb’s health is going to significantly improve he’s not worth going after. He’s not the same game he once was
If ever team thinks that way, and it wouldn’t surprise me if they did, he might have to accept a one year prove it deal somewhere. I’m guessing many team will be hesitant to sign a 29 year old who’s production dropped after a serious injury, long term

Clowney’s contract had incentives that could bring it up to $6 million. I’m guessing he hit them.
You arent getting him at that price. There three edge rushers not on rookie contracts that had 8 sacks and have an AAV lower than 15m. Clowney, Von Miller, and Muhammad. If you want production, you are going to have to pay for it or hope for a miracle

That was his contract with Dallas for 2025.

That may be what they want but that doesn't mean you should give it to him not with injury prone players if you make it 15 million with incentives and send it for production games played whatever making all pros you can make it equal 15 million but the guarantee should be a low base..

Realize this guy's been in the league eight years he's only technically played 7 and because of more than half of those years were less than eight games per year.. He has like 48 sacks in seven seasons that he actually played That's 6.8 you want to round it up to seven that's seven sacks you pay him a base that equals that of what you would have gave somebody with 7 That's it and with thinking that he's probably not going to be available most games..

Guys get to this age and this point in their careers them demanding 15 million I'll just let them go somewhere else and steal that money...

Like I said if you want to offer the guy a base salary of eight or 9 million and then if he wants to earn the rest that's fine that sounds fair to me that's not like lowballing a guy.. That's what Tank got and I put him in the same position 10 got 14 million but only three years The 18 million is guaranteed that 'd be like two years nine million each because, I doubt he's going to make that 3rd year..

So hopefully when they're negotiating, they are talking about these things behind closed doors, it doesn't sound disrespectful at all, it's the reality.

Yes, the Cowboys got a steal I'm sure he earned that 6 million.. I'm betting he wants a little more but you can offer him 2 years 18 million..

If those are the terms?

Say $10 million or less on a 1-year deal?

I wouldn’t be against that.

My bet is that the player is looking for much more.
I’m sure he is. But I could see teams being a bit timid about a long term deal. A year deal might be possible. It might cost more than 10 mil but I could see him having to take a one year deal. If I’m Jerry I’d ask my DC’s opinion, an for once in his life he might actually do that

That was a breaking news story. Those typically dont come with projected market value
I give no value to anyone talking about signing someone without doing the contract work.

Without that it’s worthless.

Again I do not mean the OP. I mean the tweet that you referenced in your post.
