Collins can be a superstar if he had a real difference making 1T next to him which will never happen in Dallas with marinelli in charge
You are much higher on Collins than I am. But you are dead on about Marinelli's scheme being why we can't have good things.

McClain is a souped up version of the Golden Cock. That is really all he wants there.
That's why I think this will be the line position filled by FA. It looks like there's quite a few available that can do it. They still might draft one if he falls into their laps.

The fact for years we invested little in the 1 tech tells me he viewed that guy as a run plugging, block eating guy........... the kind you can get late in drafts and in FA for cheap.
block eating 1t is only worth it if he commands a true double team, our issue is we don't have that guy inside on the roster

I think Maliek Collins will end up having more career sacks than John Randle.

I think they'll end up drafting someone mid to late to play the 1 tech.

With Collins, Crawford (and Irving's ability to slide over and also play the 3 tech), I suspect they think they are set there. So they might take a kid like Godchaux or Jones in the middle rounds, two guys I think we've been linked to.

Which Jones? Jarron, Naz or DJ?

Jarron because I figured he be in the 4th, 5th round area, which is where I think we'd take a DT. Jarron seems more like a 1 tech type we might have interest in than Naz IMO.

Now the problem with Jarron Jones is people have questioned his motor and desire. You saw a bit of that at ND. Talent wise, he's big time and flashed it at times in dominating games. But then he has a lot of head scratching games and people around ND have said he doesn't seem to be the type that takes football seriously. He sat out a few games at ND when he was nicked up because he didn't want to get hurt (specifically the Navy game. He had a serious knee injury and then sat out the Navy game for fear that his knee would get injured again with Navy using cut blocks in their system).

So he's clearly a risk but if he's sitting there in the 4th and we are looking for a DT with upside, I'd take him.
