The news of Dues McAllister being tried out as a slot-receiver is a big indicator that he won't make the roster this year.
To become a WR, he needs to change his workout routine and body. Having never played WR before, it's unlikely he can make the adjustment at an acceptable NFL level.
It was obvious watching him last season that he is just too small to play RB in the NFL, even as a gadget out of the backfield catch and run RB.
He get's pulled down will extreme ease by NFL Dliners and LB's.
Sproles was small too but he was able to demonstrate his value as a receiving RB and returner. Duece lacks what Sproles had.
Drafting him was a great story but he just has no place in the NFL.

His name is Duece Vaughn. And would be such a Cowboy thing to switch him over to WR. The Boys have a bunch of WR who aren't good at WR. Why not use a RB who isn't good at WR.
Don’t think it’s a switch, think they just trying to give him looks, at KState he was effective in the slot. It’s OTA’s whatever they can do for looks and chances at opportunities helps. Let’s not act like he didn’t kill the Big 12. Let’s give this dude a chance, if he was average in the Big 12 ok but the dude killed it, dominated and if was 4 inches taller would probably be a first to second rounder.

I agree with you on his productivity in college. It's just that this team NEVER utilizes talent properly. Duece needs touches. If he was targeted for 5-6 screen passes in a single game, his impact would be appreciated. He's very dangerous in the open field, regardless of the competition.

It could be this, but it does have a smell of uncertainty about where he fits or if he fits.

Watched Deuce getting legit RB snaps in OTAs. So, the OP is just hater crud.

To the contrary, breaking news... this offensive coordinator likes to run empty sets.

So... how it would be somehow strange that you'd take arguably your best receiving RB currently on the roster, and begin featuring him as a slot receiver in some plays? Dunno. But haters be haters, and it's just how it goes.

How was Sproles his rookie year?

Oh yeah, he had 60 total yards his first two years.

I get the impression you have no watched much of Vaughn. It's not like CBF players got their hands on him and he powered through. His game has always been about the juke.

And he does have elite short area quickness like Sproles did. Now does he have the ability to time and execute at the pro level? That is the question but Vaughn would hardly be the first to need the game to slow down for them prior to success.

Dallas should have used him in the slot last season ,like they used Beasley .But Duece can also be put in motion out of the back field , he needs the chance of making people miss in space .Also last season their were not many running lanes created by the Oline, I think that Beebe will make a major difference this year at center. And not only will Duece get loose he will make a few big plays in the running and passing game.

He is still a RB, they plan on using his ability to split out to the slot which creates mismatch issues with the defense when a RB can do that at a high level.

It's all about how they use Deuce it's coaching plain and simple , what McCarthy is doing with Duece this year he should have done last year. The Oline needs to be much improved this season as well ,but make no mistake Duece has some big plays in him. It's up to McCarthy to put Deuce in the right situation to succeed.

Let's just play Parsons on both sides of the ball. He'd probably be a really good RB. Does anyone think he wouldn't?

Nepotism at its finest.

A wasted roster spot that could've been used on someone useful.
All this hand wringing when he was a late 6th round choice; the 212th overall pick. Instead of Deuce maybe the Cowboys should have drafted the next Quinton Bohanna instead?

People act like the Cowboys burnt a 2nd or 3rd rounder on him. At that point in the draft he was worth a look.

Meanwhile our 4th and 5th round picks last year, Viliami Fehoku and Eric Scott, were not even active a single game. But oh no, we wasted a 6th on Deuce!
