The news of Dues McAllister being tried out as a slot-receiver is a big indicator that he won't make the roster this year.
To become a WR, he needs to change his workout routine and body. Having never played WR before, it's unlikely he can make the adjustment at an acceptable NFL level.
It was obvious watching him last season that he is just too small to play RB in the NFL, even as a gadget out of the backfield catch and run RB.
He get's pulled down will extreme ease by NFL Dliners and LB's.
Sproles was small too but he was able to demonstrate his value as a receiving RB and returner. Duece lacks what Sproles had.
Drafting him was a great story but he just has no place in the NFL.

Say what?
The old Saints RB?
Damn dude is 45 years old. I don't think he is up to it.
Wow what an RB committee, even Deuce McAllister ?
That's right, you thought Zeke was old. Wait till Deuce McAllister comes back
Jkyle was immersed in an NFL time warp while creating the thread.

He is still a RB, they plan on using his ability to split out to the slot which creates mismatch issues with the defense when a RB can do that at a high level.
Exactly, his only chance to pass pro is a cut block. Making him into a hot route makes a lot more sense.

Don’t think it’s a switch, think they just trying to give him looks, at KState he was effective in the slot. It’s OTA’s whatever they can do for looks and chances at opportunities helps. Let’s not act like he didn’t kill the Big 12. Let’s give this dude a chance, if he was average in the Big 12 ok but the dude killed it, dominated and if was 4 inches taller would probably be a first to second rounder.
The problem is not Deuce. The problem is our Oline. If our Oline were to start consistently winning their battles and opening up some holes, the Cowboys could light it up with Deuce both in the run and passing game.

DV is the 4th RB…at best.

He’s likely on the practice squad.
At best the game slows down for him and he is able to use his short area quickness to success like he did in college. He will likely never get enough touches to break 200 carries and be a lead back but he is a prototype change of pace back at best.

You seem to have a lot of imagination when it comes to failure and little when it comes to success.

Deuce was able to make people miss in college. In the NFL, not so much. It is definitely on Vaughn as well.

The fact is that our ol has sucked Bigly for years now in the run game. It’s been a long time since we have had a dominant run game. You would think that with all of the passing it would open up the run game but it certainly has not worked out that way for us.

I think it would only be right if his dad made the call to inform him he’s been cut.

Wish he was Deuce McAllister. He put up over 1300 yards rushing his second year and over 1600 his third year. The Deuce we have may be cut loose this summer when the cuts are made.

Never heard of him. I google and found this Deuce McAllister.

All this hand wringing when he was a late 6th round choice; the 212th overall pick. Instead of Deuce maybe the Cowboys should have drafted the next Quinton Bohanna instead?

People act like the Cowboys burnt a 2nd or 3rd rounder on him. At that point in the draft he was worth a look.

Meanwhile our 4th and 5th round picks last year, Viliami Fehoku and Eric Scott, were not even active a single game. But oh no, we wasted a 6th on Deuce!
I don't care where he was drafted.

He wasted a roster spot.

Why don't they ever go back to the players Halo days and look at what he excelled at the most at KState and devise a opportunistic way to deploy Deuce Vaughn and if they do that and he fails to execute because of his size or speed repeatedly then cut the ties and move forward. I am a fan of lil Deuce so hope he can shine in his given role.

I think a lot of it is the oline coaches we get. Yet, we are running it back.
