The dysfunction continues

Josina Anderson has been covering the NFL for years for ESPN and CBS. Stop embarrassing yourself with your natural gag reflex to defend the team.
Never heard of her and I’ve been following the NFL more than most here. Plus it’s Twitter. It’s where pet, especially the media, go for clicks. The more clicks they get the better it is for them.

Amidst the celebration of Quinn returning let me be the one to remind you of what just happened.

The Cowboys released George Edwards yesterday to the confusion of their own coordinator. The guy they supposedly covet and hand the keys to the defense to.

Well that guy is now coming back and he sure would like to know why one of his assistants isn't there anymore and why he wasn't involved in the decision.

GMs pick coaches. Coaches pick coordinators. Coordinators pick their assistants. Any interference in that is mismanagement and you know who is the cause of it.

Some things will just never change.
Edwards wasn't picked by Quinn. He was inherited. He was hired by Dallas when Nolan was the DC.

That doesn't mean Quinn doesn't want him, just that he wasn't Quinn's hire. Neither was Lett, who also was released.

Yes that is probably the truth of it, But she did not claim any of that and she never claimed that george said dan said that, This forum s great for turning a mole hill into a mountain
That or DQ knew but was confused about the timing or confused that he wasn't allowed to be the one to break the news to his assistant.

And if there’s ANY kind of potential drama or tragedy to twist into something damaging, or to magnify, some fans will sniff it out to stress out normal fans who have had their fill of such nonsense long ago.

Was there a documented quote anywhere that verified Quinn’s surprise? Can it be proven the move was made without his knowledge, or was this all just speculation? Got a link?

Well that would go against media reports that he was confused when told about Edwards not being retained.
Lord knows, I wouldn’t wanna go against “media reports”! I can speculate too: maybe Quinn WAS surprised, but it wasn’t a “deal breaker”, and he was still focused on a “job undone”. Imagine….

So your official (laughable) stance is she lied about a conversation she had with Edwards?

Please say yes.

I would suggest that none of this matters and DQ probably knew Edwards was gone whether he returned as DC or not, and had no issue with it. It’s more likely that DQ was pretending to know nothing for personal reasons.
And I'd suggest you're just in your little fan cocoon living in a reality of your own creation. The report is clear. She spoke with George Edwards. He told her when he spoke with Dan Quinn and told him about this Quinn was confused. Meaning he knew nothing about it. Meaning he didn't do it. Meaning he wasn't even informed of it. Meaning the team is dysfunctional.

Thanks for that irrelevant information.

Everything on Twitter is the truth haven’t you heard?

Doesn’t mean that at all and is just your interpretation. Maybe it was a bad connection and he didn’t hear it all. Maybe Edwards misunderstood her or she misunderstood him. You’re reaching deep for this one. Having said that I’ve been saying the Jones are dysfunctional owners for years now.

quinn could have got a big raise, and was already making how much??
He has a cushy job, more than avg talent, so he has decided to stay here.
So whether he knew or not, he might not care, and he may decide who the replacements are.

It's only irrelevant in your mind.

The situation would be different if the assistants being released were handpicked by Quinn, but that's not the case. Jerry only released the ones who were brought in by previous coordinators. That clears the way for Quinn the pick his own assistants, which is something you pointed out that coordinators do.

Maybe your problem is the fact that Edwards being inherited by Quinn spoils your rant a little. He wasn't his guy. Quinn had no relationship with him before Quinn was hired as DC. The situation would be different if they released someone like Whitt, whom Quinn brought in with him.

The contracts expired and when they did the team didn’t know if DQ was staying or not. My guess is if DQ wants them back that will happen. Although maybe he has other people in mind. I don’t see it as that big of a deal.

Another guy who likes to be intentionally obtuse.

For those reading at home - you can have both low expectations about the Cowboys and still want them to win.
I'm intentionally obtuse to your strawman perhaps.

My point is that if you expect the Cowboys to do poorly and then they perform better you have reason to be happy and to reevaluate your clearly wrong take. What you think and want at the end of the day of course you are free to do. Quit playing the victim, please.

Risen plays the heel and just like with wrestling, he gets a ton of affection. He does appreciate you going Don Quixote for him at least.

and has anyone in this mess pointed to any evidence as to whose this decision actually was? or we just going by risen's assertion so we could go straight for the outrage?

So many trying to defend the dysfunction of this Front Office and more specifically, the Ownership.

Mike McCarthy before taking the Cowboys job " I will never not call plays again"

Mike McCarthy the day of his hire "I plan on calling the plays"

Mike McCarthy the day after his hire "We don't want to mess with the continuity so Kellen will call the plays"

The fan base "Mike thinks Kellen is a genius! Just like Jerry!"

Reality: Kellen stinks. Jerry can't run a football team.
Great post.
