If you don't think Witten is a part of the problem on offense I don't know what you're looking at.
The number one problem is the QB, but guys like Dez and Witten are definitely issues that must be dealt with. If Jason Witten is on the field next year the Cowboys are much easier to defend.
I know he's a hero and stuff. You'll always have the memories. Let it go. Move on.
If you are going to keep Witten on the team (I hope they don't) you have to have a ton of speed around him so that they are so worried about everyone else that they will let him run 6 seconds and get 10 yards down the field.
Once again we got silly Cowboys fans thinking that good tight ends grow on trees. Yes, Ertz, Gronk, and Kelsey are better. We can't be all world at every position and Witten, at his age, is still better than most of the tight ends in the NFL.
The problem with our offense is in the mix of receivers more than anyone in particular. Nobody stretches the defense, so they're all playing bunched up, all working short routes.
I wish we had extended Butler when there was no market for him last year. Instead we guaranteed Williams through this year.
We better have hit on Rico, because no one else in our group of TEs seems like a possible downfield threat, and we've got so many of them I don't see us bringing in another TE. Already have more than we can use.
Hanna has good speed for a tight end. We just never use him. He can also block.
You can always count on Witten to catch a 7 yard pass on 3rd and 10
-------and you are supposed to use your back/ body to shield the defender so he can not defend the catch.
That's sound logic if you are past the sticks....but he gets tackled the minute he turns around and starts to slowly plod up field. These days, he runs like he has a refrigerator on his back.
--------Picking on Witten when there are so many other major issues is silly.
That's our problem....we can only address one issue per off season. How many did Philly address and fix DURING the season????
