I don’t get the emotional attachment to players, is this a “Madden generation” thing? If there are better options then it’s time to move on....
 
why make him retire or replace him, he's routes are at the limit of what the QB can throw accurately..
 
Cowboys need a more dynamic TE. Witten’s a liability in the run game and cannot stretch the middle of the field. He scares absolutely no one. He’s a great Cowboy and probably a hall of famer one day, but Father Time always catches up.

He is a genuine hall of fame player. But he is a "has been". The team needs to stop being sentimental about players and pay according to performance if they want to be serious about winning.

If Dez and Witten are still on this team next year you either have to question the team's motivation to win or their ability to evaluate talent or both.

The problem with our offense is in the mix of receivers more than anyone in particular. Nobody stretches the defense, so they're all playing bunched up, all working short routes.

I wish we had extended Butler when there was no market for him last year. Instead we guaranteed Williams through this year.

We better have hit on Rico, because no one else in our group of TEs seems like a possible downfield threat, and we've got so many of them I don't see us bringing in another TE. Already have more than we can use.

Jason Witten isn't a good tight end. He sucks. Whether you can find another young Jason a Witten or not is not the issue. He HAS to go if you want to be sincere about winning.

Hanna has good speed for a tight end. We just never use him. He can also block. It is mind boggling to see Witten get all the snaps and do literally nothing positive with them.

Hanna's whole career has been annoying. He came in as a receiving TE that was supposed to be a matchup nightmare because of his size and speed, but too bad, so sad, he just couldn't block. So he doesn't make the field much.

We turn him into a great blocker, and now we won't throw to him. We sign him to a new contract, and then lose him for the year. Swaim plays well, but we keep Hanna for a 3.0mil cap hit anyway. Now he's scheduled for a 3.5 cap hit as a blocking TE.
 
When was the last time Witten scored a TD that his momentum wasnt already carrying him into the endzone?

Ill be in the bed sleep while waiting for that answer!

Is my point exactly.. the game has changed if it aint 3rd and 3 or shorter or goaline then get Witten out the game he's been a hinderance surprise it took most of yall ths long to come to this realization that witten needs to be replaced

Picking on Witten? Man Witten will be alright he aint no different thant the next man at the end of the day!! People who won championships for the organization was released so people can save me with the sentiment for Witten I aint for it..

Rather you believe it or not a few extra 3rd down conversions changes the outcomes of games... Based on my experiences and knowlege of the game

This is the NFL so why are you losing so many 3rd down battles Witten? Its right in ya face

He aint got it. I been saying it for 3 years just now its picking up more steam
 
It is easy....
3rd and 10 = Don't go to Witten
3rd and 6 or less = Go to Witten
 
Need more downfield ability from our TEs.
Witten isn't that guy anymore.
He is still a decent TE with good hands
but it is time to add somebody with superior athletic ability, like a Kelce or a Gronk.
