What i think will happen is that he will play a game before he finds out he is through

But even if he can play. Why?
If Ellis plays he is not the future. Spencer is.
If Ellis plays he is holding back Spencer's development
Yes, Spencer is a rookie, but one with a bedrock pedigree and dazzling skills.

I would rather have a rookie Spencer play and learn on the job than have a still-healing and aged Ellis play who is just playing out the string for a paycheck.

Spencer is the future, so let's get started on the future.

Ellis is the past. Let's just let him retire with dignity.
