The Giants got killed by our empty backfield formation.

We've watched Romo make some great plays...

But being able to run an empty backfield set as often as we did, is something we couldn't do with Bledsoe. We saw what happened when we did. The defense blitzed and Bledsoe got killed...or he had to dump the ball off in a half a second in order to avoid being sacked.

The key pass to Glenn in the red zone on the last TD drive and the 43 yard pass to Witten before the game winning FG, both came out of an empty backfield set.

Great stuff.

The other player on offense who seems to really be coming into his own is Crayton.

It just seems every week he makes key catches, and he rarely drops the ball. Excellent hands.

i have to agree with you Juke, bledsoe did some things good in his career,
but at this point in time Romo is the guy who can make that formation work
and today it was vital.
btw..i like what you did with that romo pic in your sig..way cool

I agree Juke .... Romo allows us to utilize the entire playbook not just part of it.

The Giant D was also playing coverage games w/Tony's head. The spread formation allows for an easier & quicker reads.

juke........another thing he proved was he can take some violent hits.

My gripe about Bledsoe was simply that he made it too easy for the defense to game plan...They knew exactly where he would be on every play...

The Giants had no answer for our 5 wide formation...

On that last long one to Witten, Owens was open also...

And thanks for the sit compliment. :)

Interesting, right?

The young guy allows us to open the entire playbook..but we couldn't do that with the veteran qb.

Romo just looks great in the shotgun. Parcells was right, the first half he was too excited. He looked like he was rushing things.

Nice observation J.

Romo is positively lethal in the empty back-field set.

AND it forces the opposition to game plan and prep for one more formation.

It's been an effective formation all over the field...including near the goal line where we used to CONSTANTLY run that dumbarse jumbo formation with 3TE's and get stuffed EVERY time.

Heck, I like Romo so much that I'm even starting to like Parcells again. :D

I'm not sure they stopped it all day. Romo has some pretty amazing instints.

That play to Glenn in the flat was a great play and a great call.

With his vision and quick release, that empty back set is going to give teams fits just like "the greatest show on turf" did a few years back. Plus, we have some pretty decent recievers coming out of those sets, all reliable targets in the clutch {even Owens with his drops}.

Don't forget Crayton's pretty good blocking on that play too.:D

Man, I still get nervous with the empty backfield. Maybe I'm having flashbacks to Bledsoe?

Romo seems to hit his WRs from this, though.

Ah, I saw that too. Actually if Romo saw TO and fire the ball to him. TO can go to end zone untouched.

But all is good, Witten got the ball, and we kicked the field goal.:laugh2:

I was shocked when I saw the replay. TO was wide open and probably would have scored. Oh well. More exciting this way I guess. ;)
