The Fatal Flaw in the Patriots Legacy.
http://profootballtalkline.com/nfl/news/24713/the-fatal-flaw-in-the-patriots-legacy.html/
...In their seven Super Bowl appearances, New England has a 5-2 record and both of those times the Super Bowl losses were to the hands of Eli Manning and the New York Giants. In Super Bowl XLII many people thought that the Patriots were going to be coronated as the first team to be 19-0 in NFL history. Yet, the New York Giants shocked the world. With phenomenal play from Big Blues defensive line and a spectacular play by Eli Manning and David Tyree in the 4th quarter the Giants were able to end the Patriots quest for perfection and won Super Bowl XLII 17-14.
While many thought that one Super Bowl win was a fluke and Manning and the Giants just got lucky. Many NFL followers would state how Brady was the prototype quarterback while Eli Manning was an enigma. Manning could make a spectacular throw on one play and the next play fall victim to a sack fumble. Yet, four years later the two teams meet again in Super Bowl XLVI. Big Blue used the same formula by having a great defensive front hit Tom Brady as much as possible and a timely 4th quarter throw by Eli Manning, this time to Mario Manningham, to win 21-17.
Since Super Bowl XLVI Manning and the Giants have yet to win a playoff game while Brady was able to win one more Super Bowl this time against the Seattle Seahawks thanks to the Malcolm Butler interception. And while Brady, Belichick, and the Patriots kept on adding rings there is one argument that can deflate the Patriots dynasty and that is the Patriots have never beaten Eli Manning and the Giants in the Super Bowl. The way to finally eliminate this blemish would be to play the Giants in the Super Bowl and have New England finally defeat Big Blue in the biggest game of the year. While it will take both teams reaching the Super Bowl , if Brady and the Patriots do not defeat an Eli Manning led Giants team in the Super Bowl there will always be a tarnish on the Patriots legacy.
