More like Peyton Manning = A-Rod. Both were PED cheats who were largely irrelevant in the playoffs, but put up huge regular season numbers and got lots of regular season awards. Peyton Manning just had better PR.

No, I mean Tom Brady = A-Rod in that he cheats (outright caught) and he is a complete and utter POS of a person.

As opposed to a guy implicated in jucing and sexual assault like Peyton Manning? LOL

There is no rule of thumb that can prove Brady is the greatest of all time.

The fatal flaw in the Patriots legacy is SpyGate and then later DeflateGate. I personally don't think they needed to cheat. They are a good team that plays in an embarrassing division. But, their cheating put a dent in the integrity of the game and was the start of the fans' distrust in Roger Goodell. Ironically, many fans trust Goodell less after SpyGate because the team he helped cover up their cheating...cheated again and now paints Goodell as the bad guy.

I'm not the type that goes out an accuses people of cheating without good proof. But, we simply don't know what else the Patriots are doing that is obscenely illegal. If anything ever comes up, even as low as paying off referees, paying off opposing team employees for information, etc....it really wouldn't surprise me. And there will still be fanboys who will try to excuse this behavior.

In the end, they will ALWAYS be remembered for SpyGate and DeflateGate along with their Super Bowl trophies. If that doesn't stain their legacy, I don't know what does.

I was on board for this but I let it go.

I let it go mostly because today's coaches are frigging dumb.

The last two Super Bowls were losses and they were gifted to the patriots...

But in that gifting Brady had to take advantage of:

1. Dumb coach giving him the previous SB win
2. time given to him by dumb coaching in last super bowl.

If they lose the last two super bowls leaving them 4 straight super bowl losses after winning 3 straight behind scandals then I would say yes you are right.

Not everyone capitalizes on opportunity. But they do.... they did.... end of story!

Eli has two rings because his defense held the highest scoring team of all time to a measly 14 points. And then 4 years later help another prolific offense to 17 points.
Must be nice.

I agree. The Patriots as a team capitalize. But when it comes to proclaiming that Brady is the GOAT and anybody that disagrees is a 'hater' misses some key points as to why people, like myself, don't think he's the GOAT and it has nothing to do with hating him.

I understand your point on this... I just let it go.... the cheating, the weak division, dumb opposing ciaches decisions.

Imagine if the Seahawks and Falcons had playcallers worth anything. He'd be 3-4 in Super Bowls.

Or if thetes no fluke helmet catch, or Welker dropping a ball that hits him in rhe chest?
Then its 7-0....or back to 5-2 if they take the two losses you mention.
Weird things happen for sure.

Neither Tyree's catch nor Welker's drop (and it was on a poor throw) impacted the game as much as calling a passing play with the ball at the Pats 1-yard line or managing to not lose 33 yards and only run 4 times in the 2nd half like the Falcons did.

There's no guarantee that if Tyree doesn't catch the ball or Welker makes the catch that the Pats win. Instead, any reasonable Pop Warner coach could've made the obvious right play calls and sent the Pats to 3-4 in the Super Bowl with 4 straight losses, being the Buffalo Bills-lite.

Pretty sure the Seahawks and Falcons were well coached teams. Some of best coaches in the world, actually....as are most NFL coaches, but especially those guys.

I maintain the are any dozen or more plays in each if those game that couldve trurned the tide either way.
But I wont debate this further. Waste of time

The thing is, at some point you have to judge them on their actual accomplishments, and not what Yakuza Rich or whoever ~*imagines*~ they should have been.

Their 5 Lombardis will always be there, no matter how much you might want to wish them away. All the ifs and buts in the world won't change it, sorry.

As an aside, you'd think Cowboys fans of all people would understand that if you take that crazy chaotic element out of football games it's not football anymore. You're rooting for the team that coined the term "Hail Mary" for a total desperation play, but want to hand-wave away any game outcome that didn't go to plan? LOL
