I'm very intrigued by Brandon Doughty. I can't understand why he's not being talked about.

375 of 552 (67.9%) for 4830 yds (most in FBS) 49td 10int.

Level of competition is obviously a concern but wow. Those are some sick stats, even with that many attempts.

He's smallish at 6'2 208, but those numbers are seriously impressive no matter which way you cut it.

2014 Rankings in FBS:
#1 in yards
#1 in TDS
#3 in QB rating
#6 in accuracy (everyone above him threw at least 100 fewer passes)
5:1 TD to INT ratio

Dude can sling that ball. He's also pretty mobile and can extend plays, though he's definitely not a run threat.

Just for fun, if you remove the LA Tech game, he'd have 48td 6int. Insane.

Why is nobody talking about this guy?

He doesn't look different than Case Keenum or any of the QBs from Texas Tech in recent years. He has an injury history, which is why he is getting a 6th year of college football.

I am still surprised that he is literally not even being mentioned. The numbers he put up are really, really good. He was dominant, albeit against questionable competition.

Case Keenum was at least talked about. I don't really keep up with Tech, but I do know they've had real struggles in the QB dept.

I don't know if I could just turn a blind eye to nearly 5,000 yards and 50 TDs with a 68% completion percentage, regardless of the circumstances.

I really want Romo's replacement to be a 6'4" 235 lb, big-arm passer. Romo is magic, but I want that prototype QB back there.

I'd really like a prototype QB too. Build, height, and weight definitely matter in today's NFL.

I'd definitely be open to drafting this guy in the late rounds as a project though.

Good post, sounds like a good prospect.

Why not? Plenty of college QBs have put up numbers like that, but could not make it at the NFL level. Look beyond the numbers. See if he shows growth and improvement this year.

For me, it's definitely not just about the numbers. But I do think those numbers should raise more eyebrows than they have.

I'm not sure how often a college QB puts up nearly 5k yards and 50 td at a 68% completion percentage, but those numbers tell me that there seems to be talent there to work with.

I've watched what little game tape there is of him out there, and he looks the part in my opinion. I saw him dropping back in the pocket well, extending plays, and making reads.

There's no way that he's a much worse prospect than some of the guys that got drafted this year, or are being talked about for next year.

Sound like he might be at least a backup . The Cowboys at some point must look into a long term starter for the future and a long term back up QB.

After going and looking at some of the names of other players who have done it, you definitely have a point. Case Keenum is a great example. Also, Colt Brennan.

I want the QB that mentally processes the defensive scheme
each play. And can go through his reads
2nd I want the arm
3rd I want the apathetic build

I'm still waiting for the day that we see a 300lb QB who is actually a good QB. (Not just a fat JaMarcus Russell)

Why couldn't a big guy be an effective QB?

They could take hits at least.
