I think this is probably the better scenarios of a move. Oakland won't budge on a new stadium. Normally I hate giving welfare to these owners, but the Oakland Colosseum badly needs to be replaced and quite frankly, I think the dynamics of the area with the Niners in place (even though they are in Santa Clara), it's a bit ridiculous to have 2 pro football teams (and 2 pro baseball teams). The economics and land just don't fit.
Meanwhile, Las Vegas has been long overdue for a pro sports team. They have the land and economics for it. This isn't like putting a new team in Jacksonville which grew rapidly and they never really analyzed weather Jacksonville would accept a pro sports team and not realizing that they had to compete with college football. Las Vegas is chomping at the bit for a pro sports team in their city.
I'm also glad some of this is happening because it means less credibility of threats by owners to move their team. They can no longer use LA as a potential place to move their team and Las Vegas was the only other real option. Now I highly doubt that St. Louis would welcome a team in my lifetime, the same goes for San Diego and Oakland. The only options are OKC, San Antonio (highly doubt it given Jerry wanting control of those markets), Portland (Seahawks country that has never been in talks for an NFL team) and London (have fun with that).
