IRVING -- The Dallas Cowboys released former TCU cornerback Quincy Butler, Stanford rookie punter Jay Ottovegio, Midwestern State rookie wide receiver Daniel Polk and quarterback Jeff Terrell.

The Cowboys also reached an injury settlement with fullback Ronnie Cruz.

With the cuts, the Cowboys have 75 players on their roster. They must reduce their roster to 53 on Saturday.

The Cowboys host Minnesota in their final preseason game Thursday at Texas Stadium. The regular-season opener is Sept. 7 at Cleveland.

Not surprising to see the camp punter and camp QB go now that the majority of camp is over.

Butler was facing long odds anyway and when you can't practice for all of camp, you have no shot of making the team.

Did anyone even see Polk play? I can't remember seeing him at all.

Cruz never showed me anything when he did play and that injury was the end for him.
