The First Play

You're making excuses. How ignorant are you to not realize it?
I guess I'm ignorant. Show me where I'm making excuses for the team's bad play?

Would it have made a difference in the outcome of the game? You would be ignorant to say otherwise.

Did it excuse the team's bad play? No, of course not.

Weren't we in chip-shot field goal range at the end?

kinda hard to say how things would have played out at that point, dont you think?

also think Detroit might have played defense with more urgency had they know we could have won the game with a FG rather than having to score a TD AND convert a 2pt PAT just to tie

Yes, which is why nobody can say for certainty that taking a 7-0 lead on the first play of the game wouldn't have changed how the rest of the game was played.

We may or may not have won if that had happened, but it can't be disputed that starting ahead 7-0 is much better than starting behind 3-0.

I suppose...but we played like cow dung anyway and didnt deserve to win regardless...you give up 39 pts to a 2-13 at home, you freaking suck

Anyone that thinks a 10 point swing to start the game wouldn't have made a difference is a total idiot. Period!!!!! Not only that, our defense would have been fired up and might have regained a small amount of confidence.

the confidence i think is the biggest part of it...no way do they give up 39 to the lions if that isn't called back

Dallas could punt, that would shock 'em. Show off that pro bowl leg.

The play definitely hurt our cause and took momentum away from the Boys. That said we had ALL game to restabish dominance and never once did it. This defense is absolutely in shambles right now. A putrid stink suck performance, save for Ware. Roy's drop of the interception thrown right to him is inexcusable. He has been miserable all year long- he has gone from one of the best catalytic players in the league to a second level mediocre safety who plays lazy football and takes plays off.

I don't think you could convince some people that we would have won if we had led 28-0 after the first quarter.

If we had a different defense, yeah maybe.
