Many of you can’t wait for official word that Garrett isn’t returning. Let’s say that happens. What next?

The next fork in the road will be the hiring of new staff. Who will the new staff be?

Ideal would be that The Hoodie gets bumped from the playoffs this Saturday and the Cowboys scoop him up. That would be an obvious improvement over Garrett. If The Hoodie leaves (big if) then there is no way Jerry lets him get away.

I know college coaches sound great, but they don’t necessarily transition well to the NFL. If Jerry hires a college coach is that an improvement over Garrett? IDK. But it’s not a certainty.

What retread NFL coach is going to be be an improvement over Garrett? IDK.

I think Garrett is in the playoffs perpetually if we get a decent DC and special teams coordinator and keep Kellen Moore with a few tweaks.

We had the #1 offense in the NFL, but the situational game calling was atrocious. How many 1st downs did we throw the long ball for an incompletion rather than just smash mouthing the football or doing a slant for a first down?

I don’t think Jerry gave Garrett control over that this year.

I know all the reasons why people want change. I do too in some respects, but this IS the Cowboys, and this IS Jerry and no amount of wishful thinking is going to change that.

Absent Jerry hiring a guy like the Hoodie he will meddle. At least Garrett has shown he can operate in that environment. I’m just sayin’....

If Jerry cans Garrett and hires the Hoodie then I’m totally on board. If Jerry fires Garrett and hires a retread or a puppet I think you guys will be calling for Garrett back sooner rather than later.

Yes there is only one coach I would take over Garrett and that is Bellichick. If they can’t get him than keep Garrett. There is absolutely no coach out there who is better than Garrett. Are people pregaming for new year already??!??!!?

 How do we still have Garrett supporters here?

Im not supporting Garrett. I’m suggesting that posters not live in the land of unicorns are rainbows. Suppose Garrett is gone. Will Jerry cease to be Jerry because you want him to?

If he can’t hire the Hoodie, then he will hire someone else he can control and will cheer Jerry on. How many coaches can maintain any level of success in that sort of environment?

On the other hand people must be mainlining scotch if they think Jerry is going to magically stop meddling. Who is being real here and who is not?

Did you really just ask how many times we ran on first down?!

Simple answer: too many!

Unfortunately, the main supporter owns the Cowboys. I am starting to believe like some in here, he's back next season. I know his contract is set to expire this coming Jan. But, can't wait forever to find a new coach either.

We are hoping for a Bill Parcells type of hire in the meaning of this next coach has more control and is actually a real coach. There are plenty of better options out there than Garrett how much more proof do you need? By you saying Bellichick or nothing makes no sense at all. They aren’t getting Bellichick so you are essentially saying bring Garrett back.

He did it for Parcells. Maybe Jerrah is tired of his team being a joke he did say the other day change is needed. Jerry can meddle all he wants but the in game coaching was all on Garrett not Jerry meddling.

I dont even know what point your making. Your entire first post is "what if," "IDK." I think we all understand it could get worse. We also understand it could get better. You have to be willing to roll the dice until you find the guy to get you over the hump. Let's not act as if Garrett hasn't had the talent to go further. He certainly has. He's also had multiple offensive and defensive coordinators. Throughout it all, Garrett has been the constant. Is he a "bad" coach? No. He's also shown he's not gonna be the guy to get this team over the hump.

So I ask you, are you willing to roll the dice in the hopes you finally find that guy who gets you a deep playoff run, or are you happy with just continuing to do the same thing for another decade?

Why would you want to bring in a coach who has been to 8 straight AFC championship games? That would be beyond stupid, even for Jerry.

Can someone explain to me why the New England Patriots would fire the greatest head coach in NFL history?

Where is this scenario coming from and how in the world does it make any sense?

Crack. Not even once!

I'm very sorry that you feel this way.

There's very little actually known about Belicheck's contract in New England. Purposefully so. Nobody knows the details. But it's rumored that he could leave if he chose to do so, and therefore, some think that he might. Nothing more to it than that.
