Since the GB playoff debacle, this franchise has been in a funk.
The 2024 season was a lost cause. An awful offseason followed by an even worse regular season.
The FO then hired familiar friends to coach the team. No one saw Schotty as a good hire at the time.
Then JJ bungled the Parsons signing, and Micah pouted and napped his way off the roster in response. His BFF Diggs has been a problem child in the locker room to boot.
The first half of 2025 was abysmal. An inconsistent offense dogged by one of the worst performing defenses in the history of the NFL.
But then “The Trade” happened. Quinnen shored up a massive hole up front, and the guys returning from injury have stepped up and made the D respectable again.
Dak and Schotty have rallied the team around playing for 94 and for each other in the wake of unimaginable heartache and tragedy.
The offense explodes under Pickens and Dak’s play and the team reels off 3 straight wins while the wheels on the bus in Philly look like they might just fall off
This is the first time since the GB debacle where this is once again a glimmer of hope for this team. The light is shining at the end of a dark tunnel.
Regardless of whether they win the division, they are set up for a window to contend. Here are some things they should do to maximize their chances in 2026-2027:
1. Extend Quinnen and lower his cap hit the next two years. Build the D around him
2. Resign Clark and give him a solid deal to stay.
3. Resign Pickens. Do it. We need him and he changes this offense.
4. Hit on both first rounders — or package them together and move up to nab a game changer on D
5. Resign Javonte and bring in another RB or 2 to round out the stable
6. Restructure Dak, Lamb, whoever else needs to free up cap space and go sign the best MLB and S you can find in FA
7. Cut Diggs and Steele to save cap space and use the savings to get better at RT and CB
