Yes there’s the participation trophy mentality, you’re happy great they beat up the sub .500 team. This will be the Dak theme by the homers “look at that TB game, elite” and follow up with every QB has a bad game. Be happy with losing, sad way to think.
Ickes is kind of like the homer posters here.

It was entertaining to win 13 games. That Minnesota game was awesome, just how we blew them out. The Philly game with the 3rd and 30 to Hilton was entertaining as hell.

But just because one got enjoyment out of those wins doesn't mean they can't be critical of the flaws of the team that had them missing a NFCCG game for the 27th season. Some people are just too black and white. You either thought it was a great season and enjoyed it or you didn't. But most people are pretty astute and not idiots. They can enjoy the games when we win, hate the games we lose and criticize the team for their failures yet again.

Ickes, like some here, just don't seem to understand that.

I can agree with both of your points. Gallup regressed beyond what his injury should cause.
I like him and I think he will get better, but he is NOT the right compliment to Lamb. Makes tough catches, but cant get the separation, lacks the deep balls now and doesnt have the speed.

Agreed on all of it other than wanting Zeke back at the league minimum. He MUST go.

I would even promote moving on from Gallup if we could and spending that money elsewhere.
Unless you can work a trade, it's pretty much a bad move to dump Gallup. You save barely anything even making him a June 1 cut. You'd have to trade him to see any real cap savings (about $5 million pre-June 1).

The smart play is ride him for another year and see if he's better in year 2 after major surgery. Despite what Rockport is babbling about, players sometimes take a year to get their crap back together. If he seems off after next year, then there is cap savings in cutting him.

I agree the Cowboys have a lot of pieces to build around and for that reason alone there should be some optimism. WIth that said however I'm skeptical they have many resources left to build around what is already here. The Cowboys will have to continue to hit home runs in the draft, or get creative with some of the guys coming up for free agency. Maybe they dangle a guy like Diggs to see if they can get a massive return on the trade market?
I would trade Diggs for a #1 or even a #2, then trade that pick for Lance or trade up kn the draft fir a QB. Diggs is expendable now that he refuses to be touched and isn't making TOs. You can play defense if you are unwilling to make any contact with any offensive players.

If we cant spend the money then I wouldnt do it. We need a speed element at WR.

The way it works out is if you cut him pre-June 1, you actually have to take an additional $5 million dead cap hit. If you make him a June 1 cut, you save like $900 thousand only. A trade pre June 1 would save around $5 million. That's the only way out if you want out before the 2023 season.

No, its not that pressing. He should get another year anyway. But if were now expected to beat the likes of the Niners on the road then we need a better team. And since Mahomes isnt walking through that door then we have to keep improving the other parts.
