Lets say Ken Hamlin has another subpar year in 09' like he did in 08'. Lets also assume that Sensabaugh is good enough to re-sign to a 2 year deal. What would you give to move up in the draft to get USC safety Taylor Mays? He's the next coming of Ronnie Lott and a surefire top 5 pick. If Hamlin is mediocre once again, give me Mays!! Mays can play either FS or SS so he's versatile as well. Thoughts?

I wouldn't move up in the draft to get him.....well, let me rephrase. If he's available 2 or 3 picks above us....then we can go get him.

But I would rather see if Michael Hamlin or DeAngelo Smith can pan out. I have high hopes for Hamlin #36. He's heady, instinctive....I was thrilled when we got him.

I think we have more pressing needs than safety. We're all of a sudden old on the OL. We have no apparent backup to Adams, Gurode, or Columbo.

WR is another area that we ought to look at. Along with the DL, where we might lose Spears and Hatcher.

If ifs and buts were pots and pans, there would be no need of tinkers. Safety should not be Eternal need. Its over. Thats it. we have found the solution.

If Mays or Eric Berry of Tennessee fall anywhere near us in the draft we would be foolish not to try and move up and get them. These guys are in the Sean Taylor, Ed Reed, Troy Polamalu mold. I would love to see our defense with Ware putting on the pressure AND having a game changing safety back there.

That being said, Mike Hamlin and DeAngelo Smith have a chance to be very good safeties and Sensabaugh (age 26) is still young. Barring disaster, I don't know if safety would be a major need for us. Left Tackle will most likely be the priority. Both offensive and defensive line depth will be a must.

You're a USC fan. What do you think of their LT as a prospect? Can't remember the name....

Charles Brown. Good but not great. He'll be better than Jacob Rogers and Winston Justice but not as good as 2008 1st rounder, Sam Baker.

The USC lineman I would most like to see join the Cowboys is Jeff Byers. He is a 6th year Senior (injured his Sophomore and Junior years) but has been healthy for 2 straight seasons. He can play G or C and can probably be had in the 5th or 6th round.

I could see that happening I think
Sam Young Notre Dame 6-7 #330 or Anthony Davis Rutgers 6-5 #330 Jr will be there in the second

As much as it pains me to say it Sam Young is soft. Maybe he can get a lot better like Harris did after going to the pros (Latina lost it as an O line coach- one of the reasons Houcks performance last year worries me) but unless he shows a lot more avoid him.

nothing. Taylor Mays is sooooooooooo overrated.

Coming from a guy that in all likelihood has never seen a U$C game. Only reason I say that is because the Pac-10 has the worst t.v package in all of college football. It is hard enough to try to find the games living in So-Cal let alone New York. As a Bruin I like nothing more then tearing up apart the "JC" across town but Mays is legit. I wish he would have come out last year but $C pays so much it would had been a cut in pay for him to come out.

Eric Berry would be a FARRRRR better pick for us than Mays. He is awesome in coverage.

Hamlin didn't have a poor year in 2008. He can certainly play better, but it's not like he was liability.

There are other stats than INTs, people.

We need a LT (Flos Replacement) way more than safety next year. Heck we have 20 db's now...

Agreed.

I just hope they aren't thinking in the back of their heads that they will just move Davis to LT once Flo's gone.
