No disrespect to Gene Upshaw but having that patch on everyones jersey for the entire season is a joke.

Its a huge patch on those jerseys and will become an eye sore after awhile.

Also we gave Pat Tillman a patch for like a week and the league got onto Jake Plummer for wanting to put his numbers on his shoe.

I have no problem doing it for the opening week but I can't believe they are going to put the patch on everyones jersey for the entire year.

I agree...it is ugly! It looked like GV

I don't think Pat Tillman contributions are as highly regard as Gene Upshaw but hey what do I know.....

It doesn't really bother me, but it is a rather pathetic looking patch.

they could have at least put them on the sleeves or made them a wee bit smaller. they are indeed hideous.

It's going to look awful on our jerseys. And think, if we go all the way this year, all of our highlights for the rest of time are going to have us with that dumb patch.

Im all for honoring the guy but that Patch for anything more than a week is just an eye sore.

I can't believe they are doing it for the entire year. Hopefully they come to their senses.

The man gave his life to the NFL and it's players.

Is it really going to bother you to look at the patch all season?

Perhaps, but that happened in the Tagliabue era. I think Upshaw deserves a one year patch and Tillman did as well. So Goodell may be trying to right a wrong, for once.

I agree. They could have made it better looking, but I think making it plain was them trying to keep it old school.

That Patch? Yes.

I have no problem honoring him.

But putting that patch on the front of everyones jersey for the entire season is a little to much.

Like another poster said put something on the sleeve or something.

Not a gigantic black patch on the front of the jersey.

What about all the other players that gave their life to the NFL who's benefits Upshaw denied?

Do they get a patch?

Its weird, like why not a VT patch? Or a patch for the troops, Katrina. ect.

A moment of silence, some kind words would of been enough. I think its more for the publicity than anything. If it was just for the week I dont think the Upshaw family would compain.

I know it sounds messed up, but I just hate how they draw lines. Like, a ST "21" was a little sticker and was optional. And he was in his mid 20's and was murdered w/ his kid in the room. Upshaw died of natural causes at an old age.

If this Colleir guy doesnt make it does he get one? If he doesnt, its like an ***.

It’s horrible looking. Does it have to be that big and why do they have to wear it all season? Every season the NFL has to put patches everywhere, no disrespect to people that die but that is just part of life. I mean, when a relative dies do you walk around with a big black patch on your shirt all year?

A week is long enough. I thought Eli was wearing a nascar jacket in the huddle last night when I flipped the TV on......too many patches.

An optional sticker on the helmet for the rest of the year would be fine, but the patches are fugly.

Are they Hall Of Famers who were just the head of the players union for the last 25 years?

No.
