The Giants/Broncos Game Just Shows How Bad This Defense Is

Some teams just don't match up well against others, it's really weird when you think about it..

Any given Sunday. Denver showed up to play that game. Dallas didn't. It happens. Some teams just get in the zone on game day.

That wasn't the same team last night that played us a couple of weeks ago. It didn't even seem like CJ Anderson barely played last night as well.

I don’t know how you or anyone can find the desire to argue this defense isn’t that bad after giving up 32 points per game over the last 4 games.

I’d love to be an apologist as much as the next guy.
But they have to give me something.

It's been terrible. I've been the first to complain about the defense for years, but that isn't the point I was making.

Yes, our defense has sucked the last few weeks but this thread is still a fail because anyone with half a brain knows that those "equations" don't apply to NFL (or most sports for that matter).

Look around. It's a "week to week" league more than it ever has been, and styles make matchups anyway.

NYG completely choked off their running game. Denver basically gave up on it. And we already know how tough the Giants can vs the pass. Simian had a bunch of yards, but multiple turnovers and only 10 points.

The only surprise is how well NYG ran the ball.

I really hope this staff and front office watched this game. And to drive the point home that we might have the worst defense and scheme in football. Simien looked terrible today. Which is how it should be. He's not a good QB. At all. He can make some throws but so can any QB in this league. He's not consistent at all.

NYG stuffed their run game and made plays when it mattered in the secondary. We did nothing of the sort. We made the Broncos offense look the the 1998 Broncos with Elway and Terrell Davis in Week 2. It's depressing to watch defenses that actually scheme for the opposing offense. Makes the QB uncomfortable and not knowing what's coming. QBs are all about rhythm. Like a pitcher or a jump shooter. Knock them off of that and they are a completely different player. Giants disguised a lot of blitzes and coverages.

Yet all we do is sit back in the same basic soft zone just praying we don't get beat deep. And that weak philosophy teaches our defenders not to be aggressive or active. Giants had defenders all around the receivers tonight. When we played Denver, it was just pitch and catch all game long. To a guy who is not a good QB at all.

It's getting old year after year trotting out this same garbage scheme and allow any QB to look like Tom Brady or Joe Montana. Because we never change anything up or make the QB guess. I'm not even wanting a great defense at this point. How about just average for now. How about forcing some turnovers. But we never do because we just sit back and let the play come to us instead of being the aggressor.

Hmmm, our defense pitched a shutout against the Giants offense when they were at full strength, while the vaunted Broncos defense got trucked by Eli Manning, Orleans Darkwa and a bunch of UPS drivers playing wide receiver. Not sure how this shows how bad our defense is.

Overall, they are a crap defense thus far. Basically every statistical measure possible would support that claim.

They were atrocious in the Packers game. A no name TB ran for a buck twenty five on them and Rodgers had 3 TDs and a rating of 122 in that game. Yeah, he killed us.

Of course it would because of the Bronco game they got smoked.

I'm not arguing they aren't a bad defense. They are. I like their pass rush this season.......

As a matter of fact.....I think a real DC could get more out of this unit IMO.

Dallas' offense kept our defense off the field a lot of that 1st half if I remember. Denver's offense was terrible tonight. Denver's defense gave up 13 to NY. 7 was from the pick 6. Denver had plenty of chances to win that game tonight. Their offense kept crapping the bed and turning it over.

And this is far from just one game and a knee jerk reaction. We have been making spare QBs look like a HOF player for pretty much the entire Garrett era.

I think they have made average or below average QB look great even before Garrett got here. It's weird how they play down to the QB they're playing.

It really only shows that our offense completely underachieved in the Denver game.

They weren't good in the Packers game either. Palmer dropped 325 yards on them in the Cards game. Rams shredded them.
