I think another name to watch is Carl Nicks from Nebraska. He has some off the field issues but he is in the mold Houck lineman. I really like what I have seen from him if he checks out alright off the field.

As a Nebraska fan, I can straight out tell you that guy is a POS.

ANY team who drafts him is getting a lazy slob, who routinely misses practice, half-a**es practice when he does come, same for games, heavy drinker and a VERY, VERY bad locker room influence. He was one of the key reasons (along with McKeon, Ruud and Keller) as to why Nebraska tanked last year.

Look at Pelini, it took one run-in from Nicks to bar that guy from even coming back to UNL to workout. That alone should tell you everything you need to know about him.

I'd be happier if we drafted Felix Jones and DeSean Jackson if it meant we stayed away from Nicks. That alone should tell you what I think of that guy.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Colombo moves on after the season. He's going to want to get paid, and Dallas probably is going to have a lot of prioritites ahead of him.

Besides that, as others have mentioned, I think a lot of these young tackles were taken with the idea that they would get their shot one of these days.

The only other thing that I think is kind of interesting about this whole situation is that Kosier is also a free agent soon, right?

But as I recall, isn't Houck one of those guys who wants his 5 best lineman on the field, regardless of position? Some of those young guys may get a shot this year, and I think Dallas will have an even better idea of what their future holds. But another versatile prospect wouldn't hurt my feelings at all.

I agree, I think we let Columbo walk.

I like Columbo, but the dollars need to be spent on some of our star players like Newman, Ware, Canty, Barber, Hamlin, ect...

You can survive with a youngster playing RT, it is the LT spot that you cant have inexperience at (See Flo getting paid).

Kosier is under contract for 3 more years.

Wow, didn't know this. I guess he won't check out well in the character department. Thanks for the info.

Thank you. I guess I was thinking he signed for 3. I appreciate you clearing that up for me...

I still think that these young guys are going to be given a shot. Like I said, I think Houck will play his best 5.

At some point we need to quit drafting OL and actually play the guys we pick.

It's about time our young OL started producing on the field. McQuistan, Free and Marten need to push for a starting job or at least show enough to let the organization feel comfortable in playing them when Colombo moves on.

Kosier's contract isn't that big - $5M signing bonus and $15 million over 5 years. One of the reasons he was signed is he could play multiple positions along the OL so bringing in a better starter to put him in a role as backup at several positions may have been the intention all along with the signing. It is just a matter of someone taking the position away from him.

Ungrateful SOB. He was out of the game with no prospects until Jerruh took a flyer on him and gave him a redshirt season to rehab. I understand the business aspects of it, but you would think that Columbo would think about how much money he would be making if Jerruh hadn't given him a second chance.

Yeah. And another thing.............:laugh2:

I think it depends on how comfortable they feel with Free, Marten and McQ as possible replacements at both spots. I feel pretty comfortable provided they get one more year of being healthy and learning, but the coaching staff may have a different opinion. Still, there's a decent chance that they may feel comfortable with these guys as well since this was the coaching staff that drafted Free and Marten and McQ did a pretty good job for them in only his second year as a pro.

They may want to look at guard instead. I like Kosier, but I wonder how long he'll have left in Dallas and I don't like the prospects if either him or Bigg get hurt. Personally, I'd like to see Dallas draft a guy who can play both guard and center well. That helps out with injuries and if Gurode can't improve his shotgun snaps. And also give us a guy to take over in the future.

I am probably being a little paranoid. But the last O-Lineman we drafted from USC with a history of injuries did not work out too well for us.:(

About a week ago I had a dream about the draft where we drafted Chilo Rachal and Felix Jones. A while back I also had a dream where we signed Hugh Charles as an UFA. Guess we'll see how those turn out lol.

I thought that was why we drafted the two linemen last year as well?

Amen.

I think we might take a guard at some point, but we don't need any more tackles. Flo, Colombo, McQ and Free are all we need.

And Marten might even be tried at guard, if he looks like he can play at all.

I dont like Doug Free as a Right Tackle.

Hopefully McQuiston or James Marten can play that Right tackle spot.

Didn't Marten follow in Colombo's footsteps at BC? Perhaps he can follow them straight to our RT spot.
