For the Cowboys to not make the playoffs Detroit would have to go unbeaten the rest of the way, the Cowboys would have to lose the rest of their games, Washington and the Giants would both have to finish 10-6-1. Not happening.

This loss doesn't change much playoffs wise.

Philly won today.

So Dallas would still be 2 games back.

I've been under the belief that Dallas would be the 5 seed since that Green Bay loss.

Yes, losing sucks and the team is not consistent.

But maybe it will light a fire under them that they need for this final stretch and the playoffs.

I guess we root for New York tonight so that we increase our odds of staying as the #5 seeds.

Although facing Minnesota Round 1 would be ideal.

Just don't wanna face the 49ers.

The Cowboys are now 3 games back and are leaking oil. Last week’s near loss to the worst team in football should’ve lit a fire under them. They had an opportunity to clinch a playoff spot today and blew it because they’re regressing. The defense has fallen apart and Dak continues to be inconsistent. You guys that are trying to make everyone feel better about the loss are failing! The Cowboys will make the playoffs, but are headed for another one and done.

I thought barely beating the worst team in the league last week was supposed to light a fire, lol.

This team is in jeopardy of blowing the entire season......they are fading and playing like a 3-11 team.....they have no defense, and the offense is questionable at best.......so in the grand scheme of things.......nothing changes with this organization......just the annual embarrassment and laughingstock over-rated and overhyped group of under-performing players.
It begins and ends with Jerry Jones!!

Our defense is a shell of its former self. This is what worries me the most. The injuries on defense
Turned them from one of the best defenses in the league to a mediocre one.

I was wondering why if we finished 10-7 we would be behind Detroit who we beat, it’s because they would get the tie breaker over us and Seattle. The thing is once Seattle loses (at Kansas City) next week. We will own the tie breaker over Detroit.

Exactly right, remember when they were only allowing 14-15-16 points a game. Now we lose even with an offense that puts up 30 something points every game. It seemed as soon as Dak came back the offense took off and the defense has gone down and down and down.

I'm very negative about this team. But I've literally ran out out every scenario on on playoff machine and they all have us still in.

Circle Eagles and Henry and the Titans as losses. Washington a toss-up. Not because

they are good but because TWT lives to embarrass America's Team.
We will beat the Eagles and yes my parents are rich and double yes I like to gamble.

It's so wild how these tiebreakers work, I think I'll just wait until the official word comes out of who's in and who's out.

The one scenario that has the Cowboys out is this:

1. Dallas loses out and ends up 10-7
2. Detroit wins out (10-7 with better NFC record)
3. BOTH the Giants and Commanders end up 10-6-1 (half a game better than Dallas)

The moment any of those things become impossible Dallas is in.

We own the tiebreaker over Detroit: Even if Seattle, Detroit, and Dallas finish at 10-7, Detroit is eliminated because they got beat by Seattle and Dallas: We would have the better conference record (next tiebreak) than Seattle. Still not getting how we can not already be in the playoffs.

" Wild Card Tiebreaker 3 or more teams:
  1. Apply division tiebreaker to eliminate all but the highest ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. The original seeding within a division upon application of the division tiebreaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify the two Wild-Card participants.
  2. Head-to-head sweep. (Applicable only if one club has defeated each of the others or if one club has lost to each of the others.)
  3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.

Two Clubs
  1. Head-to-head, if applicable. (We beat Detroit)
  2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference. We will have a better conference record than Seattle, no matter what happens.)
  3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
