We own the tiebreaker over Detroit: Even if Seattle, Detroit, and Dallas finish at 10-7, Detroit is eliminated because they got beat by Seattle and Dallas: We would have the better conference record (next tiebreak) than Seattle. Still not getting how we can not already be in the playoffs.

" Wild Card Tiebreaker 3 or more teams:
  1. Apply division tiebreaker to eliminate all but the highest ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. The original seeding within a division upon application of the division tiebreaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify the two Wild-Card participants.
  2. Head-to-head sweep. (Applicable only if one club has defeated each of the others or if one club has lost to each of the others.)
  3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.

Two Clubs
  1. Head-to-head, if applicable.
  2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
  3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
I agree I hope someone explains on one of these networks. We own every tiebreaker. Except we are 7-3 in the conference and they are 5-4. They could finish 8-4 and we would be 7-5 if all three of us are tied.

Dallas is not officially in since if they lose out and Detroit wins out the Lions would have a better NFC record. And there's still a chance both the Giants and Commanders end up 10-6-1.

This loss doesn't change much playoffs wise.

Philly won today.

So Dallas would still be 2 games back.

I've been under the belief that Dallas would be the 5 seed since that Green Bay loss.

Yes, losing sucks and the team is not consistent.

But maybe it will light a fire under them that they need for this final stretch and the playoffs.

I guess we root for New York tonight so that we increase our odds of staying as the #5 seeds.

Although facing Minnesota Round 1 would be ideal.

Just don't wanna face the 49ers.
Yep, I have suffered way more devastating losses as a Cowboy fan.
This is not even in the top 100
Lol

Right, nut they would be eliminated because they lost to Seattle and us. After that conference record kicks in: We own that over Seattle.

We beat them.

You are right but if Seattle also ends up 10-7 head to head is no longer a tiebreaker. It eliminates Dallas and Seattle based on conference record.

EDIT: Three team ties eliminates head to head as a tiebreaker

We beat them: The first tie breaker in a wild card tie is head to head if it's just two teams.
It's ok if the Giants and Commanders wind up ahead of us: Three teams make the wildcard.

ESPN playoff machine says otherwise.

Great Post!!

I am think I am more focused on conditions. I prefer inorder

1. Vikings - Dome is a fast track good for Zeke and Pollard and Kirk Cousins

2. 49ers - Weather Period

3. Bucs - Brady is Brady

Brady is awful

I ran the playoff machine. Have us losing out. The Giants going 10 6 and 1. Seattle and Detroit going 10 and 7. And they have us in.

Try it with Washington and the Giants 10-6-1 and the Cowboys, Lions, and Seahawks all 10-7. I think the Lions get in as the 7th seed based on conference record.

If not maybe some wild tie scenarios are keeping it from being official.
